ASCAME

ASCAME is the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry. It is an international organization with global scope and non-profit organization.

ASCAME was created in 1982 as an initiative from the Chamber of Commerce, Industry andNavigation of Barcelona and other Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce.

ASCAME represents:

More than 300 Chambers of Commerce and other organizations sharing the same objectives likeASCAME such as Ports, Trade-Fairs, Investment Promotion Agencies, Business Associations etc. fromthe two shores of the Mediterranean.

The most important actor representing the interests of the Chambers of Commerce and the privatesector of the Mediterranean.

ASCAME gathers Presidents, Vice-Presidents and Managing Directors from Chambers of Commerceand other organizations.

ASCAME is present in 23 countries of the Mediterranean and more than 250 cities over the Mediterranean.

To promote and encourage complementarities between the different economies of theMediterranean countries.

To establish a network of Chambers of Commerce and entities in charge of cooperation andeconomic exchanges between the countries of the Mediterranean region.

To contribute to the creation of a Mediterranean space for peace, tolerance, security andprosperity.

To create operational networks between similar institutions with the objective of promotinginternational cooperation through specific actions or joint studies.

To reinforce a Mediterranean identity.

The association has a privileged position as representative of the private sector in the region.

Specific Objective 2.1: To raise capacity for better management of energy in public buildings at

transnational level

strategies and plans in MED territories

Specific Objective 2.3: To increase capacity to use existing low carbon transport systems and

multimodal connections among them
