LEGAL OBLIGATIONGermanyManufacturers or distributors on the German market are required to notify formulations and ingredients to the German BfR (Bundes-institut fur Risikobewertung) for hazardous mixtures, biocides, detergents, and cleaning agents.

SwitzerlandIn Switzerland, companies are required to submit information on their chemical products to the Swiss BAG (Schweizer Bundesamt für Gesundheit).

EU – CLP Article 45In the near future, an EU-wide standardized format will be implemented. This format will also be supported by opesus EPN.

BUSINESS REQUIREMENTSProduct notifications are mandatory before a product can be sold on the market. Pro-ducers or importers are required to do this using specific XML formats. In Germany, for example, the XProduct-Notification XML exchange format is currently used.

SAP customers store substance and formu-lation data in the specification database and want to leverage that existing data wherever possible.

Customers also want to keep track of notifi-cations made to authorities for auditing pur-poses.
