1-1SAFETY

The instructions in this manual have been prepared to aid you in learning the proper procedures for your equipment. Where information is of particular importance or is safety related, the words NOTICE, CAUTION, or WARNING are used. Their usage is described below.

If a problem occurs during the first operation of a new unit, recheck the Installation Section of the Operator’s Manual.

Before troubleshooting, always recheck the Operation Section of the Operator’s Manual.

SAFETY ALERT SYMBOL is used with DANGER, WARNING or CAUTION which indicates a personal injury type hazard.

NOTICE is used to highlight especially important information.

CAUTION used without the safety alert symbol indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in property damage.

CAUTION used with the safety alert symbol indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in minor or moderate injury.

WARNING indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury.

DANGER INDICATES AN IMMINENTLY HAZARDOUS SITUATION WHICH, IF NOT AVOIDED, WILL RESULT IN DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY.

The Henny Penny Three Lane Timer is designed to increase efficiency in the cooking and holding time of products. Preset with three (3) distinct operation models to reflect the products being cooked and held.

Test the display

1. Press and hold the two (2) end timer buttons (circled in Figure 1) atthe same time for 2 seconds until the middle display reads “TEST”.

2. The left display will read “DISP”and will light green. The rightdisplay will read “BACK” and will light red.

Press the timer button next to “DISP” to continue with test.Press the timer button next to “BACK” to exit test.

3. Using the middle timer button, select what area of the display to testand then press the timer button next to “TEST” to run test.

• 1- All display digits• 2- Digit sections

- Press any timer button at any time during the test to exit and returnto the “TEST” display.

• 3- Color Ring (The middle display will read“CLR”)- To exit test 3, press the timer button next to “EXIT”

4. Once test is complete, press the timer button next to “BACK” three(3) times to exit to idle mode.

SECTION 2: INSTALLATION

2-1INTRODUCTION

This section provides the installation and unpacking instructions for the Henny Penny Three Lane Timer.

Installation of this unit should be performed only by a qualified service technician.

2-3TEST

Any shipping damage should be noted in the presence of the delivery agent and signed prior to his or her departure.

1. Remove the timer from the packaging.

2. Select the location of the timer at the discretion of the store manager.

3. Using machine screws, attach the timer to the selected location.

4. Locate power supply and plug in power cord.

3-2DISPLAY

The Three Lane Timer has four distinct operational modes and can be changed at the operator’s discretion. This includes a Breakfast Menu, Lunch Menu, Dual Serve and Par Cook.

Idle Modes

Once the Three Lane Timer is turned on, it will start up in idle mode. The display will show what menu it is set up for in this mode.

• Breakfast Menu- “-BR-”• Lunch Menu- “-LM-”• Dual Serve- “-DS-”• Par Cook- “-PC-”

Breakfast Menu

Breakfast timer is set for breakfast potato items.

Lunch Menu

Lunch menu is set for french fries.

Dual Serve

Dual Serve is used for both breakfast and lunch. The Lane 1 timer may be set for breakfast while the Lane 2 & 3 timers are set for French Fries. The Lane settings will depend on the store layout.

Par Cook

Par Cook menu is a special mode for pre cooking items.

This section describes how to change between each menu.

1. Press and hold any timer button next to a display forapproximatly 15 seconds.

2. - The left display will read “SLCT” and will light up green.- The middle display will show the current menu.- The right display will read “EXIT” and will light red. SeeFigure 3-3.

3. Using the middle timer button, press until desired menushows in display. See Figure 3-4.

4. Press the timer button next to “SLCT” display to confirmyour menu option.

5. The timer will return to idle mode with the new menuoptions.

3-4CHANGE VOLUME

This section describes how to change the volume. The Henny Penny Three Lane Timer has a range from 1-10 of volume.

1. Press and hold the timer buttons next to the left displayand right display (see Figure 3-5) for approximatly two (2)seconds.

2. - The left display will read “PARM” and will light green.- The middle display will read “TEST” and light green.- The right display will read “BACK” and light red. SeeFigure 3-6.

3. Press the left timer button next to the display that reads“PARM” circled in Figure 3-6.

4. - The left display will read “SPKR” and will light green.- The middle display will read “IMG” and light green.- The right display will read “BACK” and light red. SeeFigure 3-7.

5. Press the timer button next to the left display that reads“SPKR” circled in Figure 3-7.

6. - The left display will read “SPKR” and light green.- The middle display will read “VOL /\” and light green.- The right display will read “ \/” with a numerical value andlight red. See Figure 3-8.

7. To adjust the volume up, press the timer button next to themiddle display that reads “VOL /\”. The numerical value willchange in the right display.

To adjust the volume down, press the timer button next to theright display that reads “ number \/”. The numerical valuewill decrease. See Figure 3-9.

8. Once desired volume is chosen, press the timer button next tothe left display that reads “SPKR”.

9. Press the timer button two (2) times to exit menu and returnto idle mode.

IMAGE

This section describes how to change the store image based on the layout.

1. Press and hold the timer buttons next to the left display andright display (see Figure 3-10) for approximatly two (2)seconds.

2. - The left display will read “PARM” and will light green.- The middle display will read “TEST” and light green.- The right display will read “BACK” and light red. SeeFigure 3-6

3. Press the left timer button next to the display that reads“PARM” circled in Figure 3-11.

4. - The left display will read “SPKR” and will light green.- The middle display will read “IMG” and light green.- The right display will read “BACK” and light red. SeeFigure 3-7.

5. Press the timer button next to themiddle display that reads“IMG” circled in Figure 3-12.

6. - The left display will read “IMG” and will light green.- The middle display will read “STOR” with no light.- The right display will read “NO” or “YES” and light red.See Figure - 3-13 &3-14

7. To change the settings, press the timer button next to the rightdisplay. The value will change to either “YES” or “NO”.

8. Press the timer button next to the left display that reads“IMG” to confirm.

9. Press the timer button two (2) times to exit menu and returnto idle mode.

3-6OPERATING THE

TIMER

This section describes how to operate the timer while in the idle mode setting.

1. Press the timer button that is set for what product is beingcooked. See Figure 3-15.

2. The timer will start at the preset time and will start countingdown. The display that the timer is running will be lightgreen.

3. Once the time has expired, the timer will beep. The displayand green light will flash. This will start the drop timer.

Press the timer button next to the flashing display to cancelthe beeping. The display will now read “DROP” andalternate between this screen and the descending time. SeeFigure 3-16.

4. Once the drop timer has expired, the green light turns off andthe display will read”XXXX” while beeping. Press the timerbutton next to the flashing display to turn off alarm. SeeFigure 3-17

Once a timer has completely expired, that display will returnto idle mode and will be ready for the next session.

5. A countdown may be canceled at any moment by pressingthe timer button next to the display for approximatly three(3) seconds.

Not all timer settings will be the same for each store. Consult with the store manager to confirm what product

is set to each timer.Figure 3-15

SECTION 4: PROGRAMMING

SETPOINTS

The Three Lane Timer is equipped with a USB connector located on the underside of the unit. This allows the operator to upload new setpoints at any time. These setpoints are only available for the Breakfast Menu and the Lunch Menu.

All setpoints that are saved to a USB drive must be a .stp file.

Each setpoint may contain information for either a Lunch Menu or a Breakfast menu but not both.

This section describes how to upload the new setpoints from a USB drive.

1. Locate the USB connector on the bottom of the unit. Slidethe door back to access the connector. See Figure 4-1.

2. Connect the USB drive into the connector. The display willautomatically change.

- The left display will read “SETP” and will light green.- The middle display will read “FLSH” and will light green.- The right display will read “EXIT” and will light red.

3. Press the timer button next to the left display circled inFigure 4-2.

4. The display will read “NEXT” and show the new times.

If the USB does not contain the correct file type (.stp) or no set point files, this display will read

“NO” “FILE” “EXIT”.

5. Each set point is displayed in the same fashion. Each displaywill be lit green and will be represented as follows:- Left display reads “NEXT”- Middle display represents the hold time- Right display represents the drop time

6. To view all the new setpoints available on the USB, press thetimer button next to the left display that reads “NEXT”. SeeFigure 4-3.

7. To program the current setpoint that is displayed, press thetimer button next to either the middle display (hold time) orthe right display (drop time).

8. Press the timer button next to the left display to scroll to thenext setpoint and repeat step 7.

9. Once all desired set points are reprogrammed, press the timerbutton next the left display that reads “NEXT” until the rightdisplay reads “EXIT”.

Press the timer button next to the “EXIT”. This will take youback to the programming display shown in Figure 4-4.

10. It is now safe to remove the USB drive from the unit.Once the USB drive has been removed, the timer willautomatically return to idle mode.

Breakfast Menu set points will be represented by dots between the N &E in the left display:

4-3SOFTWARE UPDATE

All updates that are saved to a USB drive must be a .hpf file.

This section describes how to update the software from a USB drive.

1. Locate the USB connector on the bottom of the unit. Slidethe door back to access the connector. See Figure 4-5.

2. Connect the USB drive into the connector. The display willautomatically change.

- The left display will read “SETP” and will light green.- The middle display will read “FLSH” and will light green.- The right display will read “EXIT” and will light red.

3. Press the timer button next to themiddle display circled inFigure 4-2.

4. The display will read “NEXT” and show the new times.

5. Pressing the timer button next to the left display that reads“NEXT” will show all the new updates available from oldestto newest.

Pressing either the timer button next to the middle or theright display will reflash the software and return to theprevious screen.

Repeat this step for all updates.

6. Once all desired updates have been completed, press thetimer button next the the left display until “EXIT” reads inthe right display.

Press the timer button next to the “EXIT”. This will take youback to the programming display shown in Figure 4-4.

7. It is now safe to remove the USB drive from the unit.Once the USB drive has been removed, the timer willautomatically return to idle mode.

If the USB does not contain the correct file type (.hpt) or updates are found, this display will read

“NO” “FILE” “EXIT”.

Any standard USB Drive above 2 GB is apporved by Henny Penny to use in this unit to

upgrade software.
