operator with Australia’s most experienced railway contractors.

Contract value $3.7 billion Operations Trains & Systems (OTS) Contract awarded to Northwest Rapid Transit (NRT)

Timeframe NRT will deliver the Sydney Metro Northwest by the first half of 2019 and will operate and maintain it for 15 years

Platforms will incorporate: platform screen doors (PSD) or platform edge barriers (PEB); passenger information display screens; Help Points; PA; CCTV; lifts and escalators

PSD/PEB will form the line of safety between the platform and track edge

Fully automated train operation

Systems include; CBTC (communications based train control system), CCTV, Central Control, PA and radio

Central Operational Control Centre (OCC) to control and monitor trains, stations and infrastructure – attended 24/7

OCC communicates with passengers via intercom system (and CCTV)

Operation of train doors, PSD and PID will be automatically controlled

Single deck 6-car units – 3 doors and 2 wheelchair spaces per car

Open and wide gangways (1300mm) between cars

Train floors level with train platforms

Large windows

Fully automated train operation

Modern interior, stream-lined exterior

End detrainment door

Continuous surveillance of CCTV in cars

Air-conditioned, bright illumination with LED lighting, draught screens

Hearing loops, intercom, emergency pushbutton

Hand grips and grab poles
