• Barkat Rice Mills is a project of FSL Group of companies• A premier group involved in business since 1913.• Under the GM, comes different manager, which are, manager marketing, manager

logistics, and manager HR. these managers work under their domain.• Barkat Rice Mills is a Limited Company incorporated in the year 1999 under Pakistan

Companies Ordinance 1984.• The management vision is to deliver pure, hygienic and delectable Basmati to consumers

around the globe at competitive rates.• The company interacts with farmers from seedling to harvesting stage to improve quality.

• To ensure that basmati rice retains all that nature has given it, the company has installed a very sophisticated state of the art plant at their mill from Buhler GmbH (German and Swiss machinery) 5 ton/hour capacity.

• The Management strongly believes in the key role of technology in producing hygienic and good quality product on consistent basis.

• The plant has machines of German and Swiss make.• Husking plant at Gujrat has machines manufactured by SATAKE of Japan and

has been performing extremely efficiently since commissioning. • The company has successfully extended its exports to more than thirty

countries in the world within a short span of one decade

PADDY

o A paddy field is a flooded parcel of arable land used for growing rice.

o not be confused with cultivation of deep water rice, which is grown in flooded conditions with water more than 50 cm (20 in) deep for at least a month.

PADDY DRYING PROCESS

• Open to sky – plinth (sun dry)This is the natural process.

• Through dryerIn this process paddy goes to dumpit section, then transfer to pre cleaner through this process thrash pillars and other particles are purified through pre cleaner. This paddy goes to input bin and after it again transfer to dryer.

HUSKINGAT THE BRM'S SHELLER IN GUJRAT, BROWN RICE IS PRODUCED AFTER CLEANING, DEHUSKING AND GRADING.

IN THIS STAGE ONLY THE OUTER HUSK IS REMOVED, LEAVING THE GERM AND BRAN LAYER INTACT. TOP OF THE RANGE JAPANESE HUSKER FROM STAKE HAS BEEN INSTALLED TO ENSURE DELICATE RICE GRAINS DO NOT

DEVELOP CRACKS AND BROKEN TIPS DURING HUSKING.

WAREHOUSING

• BRM therefore has a strict policy to build up stocks at the time of harvest and carry-on the maturation process under expert control. The company does not rely on the market purchase on order to order basis.

• Stocks of rice are placed at BRM's spacious godowns at Gujrat and Islamabad.

• Well-ventilated, these godowns have been constructed specifically to store rice under hygienic conditions.

CLEANING

First stage consists of several steps for cleaning of rice to ensure hygienic end-product absolutely free from all foreign materials like straw, mud balls, threads, stones, paddy etc.

WHITENING & POLISHING

In second stage the bran layers are removed through whitening and polishing machines to give rice a

pearl white look.

GRADING

Rice is graded at different stages on the basis of thickness and length to remove malnourished, shrivelled and

broken grains from healthy pure and full grains.

COLOUR SORTING

Before packing, rice is passed through the colour sorter to remove discoloured grains hence producing a final

product with each grain having uniformity in all respects.

PACKAGING & SHIPMENT

BRM has installed modern computerized bagging scales to ensure high degree of accuracy in weighing.

Several types of packaging materials are used as per customer demands.
