The last day of the four day eventcalled Dropzone-A Eerde
In which the Screaming Eagles of WWII Foundation was responsible
for the
Most people were still asleep.
But the place soon filled up with the first walkers.
The Airborne Memorial Walk was organised to raise moneyfor the Eerde Windmill
and the Wounded Warriors in Walter Reed hospital
And to build a bridge from past to present
Along the two routes of the Airborne Memorial
Walk,
re-enactorsdepicted some of the WWII
local history
We were satisfied with the success
of this first edition of
the Airborne Memorial
Walk
Time to get ready for the memorial
jumps scheduled in the afternoon
The weather wasn’t working with us…
Thousands of people gathered around the DZ
But the ceiling stayed “too low” for the airplanes to get permission to fly.
The long wait and the disappointment were eased by the re-enactors.
Despite the cancellation of the jumps,a day filled with friends, good cheer and WWII!
And that’s what it’s all about!
