Operation December Lights:A Christmas Parade Story

See the empty city street with the outdoor sounds of people speaking and cars rushing by. People appear to be shopping and getting ready for the Christmas parade occurring soon.

A woman and her child is seen a little farther down the street. Interview: She is from the Prescott area and is anticipating the upcoming parade. She notes that she has no expectations for the event, but is excited to see the displays of this Christmas parade.

The city street is slowly becoming busier as there is notably more persons around and the surrounding sounds are increasing. People are anticipating nightfall.

Turn the camera back on at nightfall. There are still persons awaiting the start of the Christmas parade.

Further down the street near the light, there are more people waiting for the parade to begin. It is fully dark and there is a lot of chatter.

Even the crossing guards are preparing for the show to come marching through.

The parade is arriving. The scene gets progressively louder as the parade approaches and small children in the background shout: “It’s coming!”

Children dressed as presents come marching through to start the parade off. They wave to the crowd.

Displays continue to move through with the people in the display waving to the crowd and Christmas music begins to play on each float.

The sound of the band marching through fills the crowd’s ears.

Blue buggies begin to zip by and races back and forth across a chatty crowd.

Santa Clause Concludes the Parade with words of Holiday Joy and Cheer.

All of his reindeer flying away into the distance.

People begin to clear out rather quickly right after Santa leaves the street.

Out of the busy hustle and bustle there appears to be people challenging the norms of casual dress.

Meets two of these interesting personsInterview: These two are from the Prescott Valley area and had the awesome opportunity to be in the parade. They were in a float representing the Bradshaw Mountain High School. They were dressed like that because they were representing the drama department.

Continuation down the street. At this point the sounds in the background are dying down.

A woman and her dog are spotted in the grass at the courthouse who watched the parade.Interview (Faceless): The woman who is also from the Prescott area really enjoyed the parade. Her favorite display was the speeding buggies near the end with blue lights.

The area very quickly clears out. However, in the parade’s remnants, there is a strong sense of community spirit tied into these enjoyed displays that not only unite the local institutions, but the local community members as well.
