OPERATING MANUAL

Preface The handling of the machine and its intended application possibilities are explained in this operating manual.

This operating manual contains important information on how to operate the machine safely, properly and economically. Compliance to the information in this operating manual contributes to the avoidance of hazards, repair costs and downtimes, as well as increases the reliability and service life of the machine.

Supplements or modifications to this operating manual due to existing national regulations for accident prevention and for environmental protection are possible without prior notice.

This operating manual must always be available at the location of use.

All persons who perform work with this machine must read this operating manual thoroughly and follow the instructions contained in it. This applies to the following work, among other things:

Work including setting up the machine, troubleshooting during execution of work, removing waste as a result of drilling work, machine maintenance, removal of work material.

Maintenance (service, inspection, repair etc.)

In addition to the specifications and instructions in this operating manual and the valid legal regulations for accident prevention in the country of use and place of use, recognized work and safety regulations must also be complied with.

Required core drilling stand A core drill stand designed for this purpose is required to operate the core drill motor. The core drill stand can be purchased from the manufacturer.

1. DESCRIPTION OF PERFORMANCE

The CDM 23 WP is impressive for daily use in channel construction sites as a functional, robust, compact core drill motor. The careful design of the safety clip secures the core drill in the harsh construction site environment as well as acting as a functional handle for daily transport and simple mounting on drilling motors.

User-friendly - Three gear levels permit optimum speed selection adapted to the specific core drill diameter

Fast drill crown collet with integrated spindle protection

Centrally positioned EMERGENCY STOP switch on the control display is quick and easy to operate even in difficult situations

Provided with an additional heat shield on the exhaust hose in the working area to avoid risk of being burned

1.1. Basics of intended use

1.1.1 The warranty obligation of the manufacturer and supplier is voided for improper or non-intended use. Any change to the machine which is not carried out by the manufacturer is prohibited. Changes, removal or addition of parts to the machine only with the written approval of the manufacturer.

1.1.2 The machine is constructed according to the state of the art and recognized technical safety rules. However, danger to life and limb of the user or third parties, and/or damage to the machine or other property may still arise from its use.

1.1.3 Only operate the machine in technically faultless condition and for intended use, aware of safety

and danger complying with the operating manual. You should particularly handle malfunctions which can compromise safety immediately, or have them addressed by experts.

1.1.4 The LISSMAC core drill motor CDM 23 WP is a wet core drill motor and belongs to the device class for stand-guided core drill equipment. The core drill motor is driven via a petrol motor and is used in combination with water for drilling round holes in stone, lightly reinforced concrete and composite materials. The core drill motor may only be used with a core drill stand intended for it, and a diamond tool (core drilling). Fumes from the petrol motor must be vented away from the user by means of an exhaust hose.

This machine is intended for use by an experienced construction worker in construction zones. Use of this machine in a manner not described in the operating manual is considered improper.

Intended use also includes compliance with the operating manual and observance of inspection and maintenance manual.

1.1.5 Foreseeable misuse / non-intended use:

Drilling without a core drill stand

Drilling without water

Drilling in enclosed spaces

Drilling without exhaust hose or with a defective exhaust hose

Drilling of wood, plastic or metal (except for reinforcement in concrete)

Drilling heavily reinforced concrete

Any constructional changes, which change the safety or the type of design.

1.2. Organizational measures

1.2.1 The operating manual must be easily accessible for each person at the location of use.

1.2.2 All additions to the operating manual, all generally valid legal and otherwise binding regulations for accident prevention and environmental protection are to be followed and instructed!

Such obligations may also apply, for example, to the handling of hazardous materials or the wearing of personal protective gear or traffic regulations.

1.2.3 Personnel assigned to activities on the machine must have read and understood the operating manual, particularly the Safety Instructions chapter, before starting work. In the middle of work it is too late. This applies notably to personnel who only work occasionally on the machine, e.g. for changeovers and service.

1.2.4 At least occasionally, perform checks for safe and hazard awareness work by operators while following the operating manual!

1.2.5 Use personal protection equipment if necessary or required by regulations!

1.2.6 Observe all safety instructions and danger warnings of the machine and keep them in legible condition! Replace safety and danger instructions, that are damaged or non-readable any more.

1.2.7 For safety-related changes to the machine or its running behavior, stop the machine immediately and mark it accordingly. Report the problem to the responsible post/person!

1.2.8 No changes, removal or addition of parts without the written approval of the manufacturer! The instructions of the tool maker must be followed.

1.2.9 Only use tested original replacement parts from the manufacturer!

1.2.10 Observe required or prescribed deadlines given in the operating manual for inspections.

1.2.11 Workshop equipment suitable for the work is absolutely necessary for performing maintenance actions.

1.2.12 Machines driven by a petrol motor may not be used in enclosed spaces. Operating the machine is prohibited!

1.2.13 The segments around the tool must be protected from damage and humidity.

1.3. Personnel choice and personnel qualification; basic responsibilities

1.3.1 Only qualified personnel 18 years of age or older may operate the machine independently. All personnel must be trained in the operation and be explicitly, in writing, authorized by the company to operate the machine.

1.3.2 Establish responsibilities of the personnel for operating, changeover, servicing, and repairing the machine.

1.3.3 Make sure that only authorized personnel works at the machine.

1.3.4 The operator must wear personal safety equipment according to the safety regulations, such as safety shoes, safety gloves and safety glasses.

1.3.5 Clothing worn at the workplace must be close-fitting so that it cannot be caught by moving parts. All loose objects must be removed. Head cover or a hairnet must be worn if the user has long hair.

1.3.6 Wear breathing protection (mask) if the air has dust particles. Do not breathe in unfiltered masonry dust as this can be a health hazard.

1.3.7 Remaining in the working area unnecessarily is prohibited! Personnel who are not working on the machine, with the exception of spotters, must be directed away from the work area. Block off the working area, if necessary.

1.3.8 During all movements, operating personnel must ensure that they and other people are not endangered. All obstacles which may hinder the operation or implementation of the machine at the location of use must be moved out of the way.

1.3.9 Any personnel training, learning, being instructed, or currently involved in general education may only work with the machine under the continual supervision of an experienced person!

1.4. Safety instructions for operation phases

1.4.1. Transport, assembly and installation

1.4.1.1 Transport, assembly and installation on/with the core drill motor may only be carried out when the petrol motor is turned off.

1.4.1.2 Transport, assembly and installation on/with the core drill motor may only be carried out with removed tool and when the petrol motor is turned off.

1.4.1.3 Transport may only be done, as long as all machine parts are tightened on the machine and individual parts cannot fall.

1.4.1.4 Machine transport may only be done if the fluids (fuel or gear oil) is prevented from leaking out.

1.4.2. Commissioning

1.4.2.1 The core drill motor must be inserted into a core drill stand intended for this purpose. Ensure that the core drill stand and the core drill motor are securely attached.

1.4.2.2 When inserting the tool the operator must protect himself from sharp edges. Defective or broken tools must be replaced immediately.

1.4.2.3 Ensure that the floor on which drilling is to be made fulfils load carrying capacities. All obstacles must be cleared away from the work area and make sure there is sufficient lighting.

1.4.2.4 Visually check the entire core drill motor for damage, defects and leaks.

1.4.2.5 Have a water source ready to connect to the core drill motor. Drilling cannot be done without water. Note appropriate usage!

1.4.2.6 Smoking is absolutely prohibited when filling the fuel motor. Special care must be taken when refilling the fuel tank. Motor parts that become warm during operating become a fire hazard.

1.4.2.7 Fuel storage may only be in authorized and marked containers.

1.4.2.8 No rotating tools which have a maximum rotation speed smaller than the nominal speed of the machine can be used.

1.4.2.9 All exhaust hoses must be inspected for damage before commissioning. If there is damage, the exhaust hose must be exchanged immediately. It is prohibited to operate with a damaged exhaust hose or without a hose. Note appropriate usage!

1.4.3. Operation

1.4.3.1 Refrain from working in any manner that is questionable in regard to safety!

1.4.3.2 Take measures to ensure that the core drilling motor is operated only in a safe, functional condition!

1.4.3.3 The core drill motor must be checked at least once per shift for externally identifiable defects or damages! Any changes which occur (including operating behavior) must be reported immediately to the responsible post/person! If necessary, immediately stop the machine and secure it against restart!

1.4.3.4 Only suitable and tested tools must be used. Inspect tools for damage.

1.4.3.5 For protection before acceleration, move the depth setting slowly into the solid floor. Avoid any contact with the running tool.

1.4.3.6 Check the drilling area for wires and lines to prevent drilling into electrical, water or gas lines. Drilling cores must be captured.

1.4.3.7 The device may only be used for its intended purpose. The machine is only to be used within the intended scope of use to prevent hazardous defects.

1.4.3.9 When working overhead, a water capture ring must be used. Only with suitable safety measures!

1.4.3.10 When drilling, the operator must be standing with both feet firmly on the ground. A spotter must be present when the core drill motor is being used.

1.4.3.11 During use, vibrations are generated around the entire machine. Before using the machine check that all fastening elements are properly tightened.

1.4.3.12 Tools may only be used for their intended purpose.

1.4.3.13 When drilling in excavation pits, the exhaust hose must be placed to ground level. Operation without, or with a defective exhaust hose is prohibited! Ensure there is sufficient ventilation.

1.4.4. Special work while using the machine

1.4.4.1 Always inspect tools and working materials for wear. Maintenance intervals that are given in the corresponding operating manuals must be complied with. Do not use any working materials that are not capable of functioning completely, or their on/off switch is defective. Repairs may only be done by appropriately authorized technicians.

1.4.4.2 Inform operating personnel before beginning special and maintenance work! Name a supervisor!

1.4.4.3 If the core drill motor is turned off during maintenance and repair work, it must be secured against unexpected application of power.

1.4.4.4 Before cleaning all openings in which no cleaning agent should penetrate due to safety and/or functional reasons must be covered and glued. Electric motors, switches and plugs are especially at risk. After cleaning, remove the covers/tape completely!

1.4.5. Moving the core drill motor

1.4.4.1 Moving the core drill motor must only be done when the petrol motor is turned off.

1.4.4.2 Before leaving the operating position, the petrol motor must be shut down and the tool must no longer rotate. There is a danger of injury by the rotating tool.

1.5. Safety instructions for special types of dangers

1.5.1. Danger for the operator by the machine

1.5.1.1 Before leaving the operating position, the petrol motor must be shut down and the tool must no longer rotate. There is a danger of injury by the rotating tool.

1.5.1.2 Working on the core drill motor and moving with rotating tool is prohibited.

1.5.1.3 The petrol motor of the core drill motor must only be put in operation for intended use drilling.

1.5.1.3 There are other residual risks on the machine, for this reason the operator must work with particular care.

1.5.2. Dust

1.5.2.1 When working in close quarters, follow any applicable national guidelines!

15.2.2 To prevent dust build-up during drilling, the tool must be cooled using water. Drilling without water damages the tool and is prohibited.

1.5.3. Noise

1.5.3.1 Wear specified personal hearing protection!

1.5.4. Operating materials

1.5.4.1 When handling oils, greases and other chemical substances, follow valid safety regulations!

1.5.4.2 Leaking fluids must be immediately removed by an absorbent material and disposed of in hazardous waste.

1.6. Transport

1.6.1 The core drill motor must be removed from the core drill stand for transport.

1.6.2 Even for a small distance, the core drill motor must be switched off. The tool may not be rotating before a restart!

1.6.3 When recommissioning, follow the operating manual!

1.7. Packaging and Storage

To ensure sufficient protection during shipping and transport, the machine and its components are carefully packaged. When receiving the machine, the machine should be checked for damage. The packaging of the device consists of materials which can be recycled. Put these by type into the relevant recycling containers, so that they can be recycled properly.

In the case of damage, the machine must not be put into operation. Even damaged cable and plugs represent a safety risk and must not be used. In this case, please contact the manufacturer.

If the machine is not immediately put into operation after unpacking, it must be protected from moisture and dirt.

1.8. Environmental protection

Packaging material, cleaning agents, used or residual operating materials, as well as removed wear parts, such as drive belts or gear oils must be taken to recycling corresponding to the valid regulations for environmental protection at the place of use.

1.9. Disposal

If the expiry date of the device has been reached, in particular if functional errors happen, make the used machine unusable.

Dispose of the device according to the valid regulations for environmental protection of your country. Electrical waste may not be disposed of in household waste. Take the used device to a central rubbish collection center.

3. COMMISSIONING

3.1. Connections and operating materials

Fuel

The core drill motor must be filled with fuel. Specifications and quality requirements are given in the operating manual and must be followed.

Gear oil

Moving parts in the drive must be lubricated with gear oil. The drive is maintenance free.

Water connection (max. 3 bar)

There is a water connection with a ball valve located on the core drill motor. Water is fed into the tool via this water connection. Always use clean water for the drilling machine and ensure that dirty water is properly removed from the drilling location.

3.2. Exhaust hose

Danger!

It is prohibited to operate with a damaged exhaust hose or without a hose. Note appropriate usage!

Connect the exhaust hose with the core drill motor and connect with the hose clamp (pos. 1)

3.3. Filling the fuel tank

Danger!

When filling, the petrol motor consists of highly flammable fuel fumes. Smoking is absolutely forbidden during this process. All flammable sources must be removed.

Caution! When refilling the fuel tank, there is a danger of burning due to hot motor parts.

Note

Fuel storage may only be in authorized containers. The containers must be marked accordingly.

Switch off petrol motor and wait for the tool to stop.

Remove the fuel cap (pos. 1)

Fill up with fuel (max. 0.7 liters)

Replace the fuel cap (pos. 1)

3.4. Insertion into a core drill stand

Danger!

The core drill motor must be clamped into a core drill stand intended for this purpose to be considered proper use.

Hang the core drill motor into the upper fixture (pos. 1) of the core drill stand

Pivot the core drill motor into the lower fixture (pos. 2) of the core drill stand

The mounting plate is clamped via the set screw (pos. 3) on the core drill stand

Note Do a fastening check to see that the core drill motor sits properly in the core drill stand.

3.5. Tools

Danger!

The use of improper or un-certified tools is lethal! Avoid any contact with the running tool.

Note

Defective tools such as:

non-concentrically running tools missing or damaged tool segments distorted tools blunt tools

May not be used with the core drill motor.

The connecting thread of the core drill fixture is 1 ¼“ UNC.

The diamond segments must show sufficient undercut to drill! Follow the proper use guidelines from the tool manufacturer!

If vibrations are too large the tool can possibly jam or be damaged.

3.5.1. Change tool (remove)

Caution! Never hit the tool with a hammer. The core drill motor can be damaged!

To loosen the tool:

Switch off petrol motor and wait for the tool to stop.

Place the open ended spanner SW 41 (pos. 1) on the tool fixture.

Place open ended spanner SW 32 (pos.2) on the core drill motor and loosen the tool.

3.6. Change the gear ranges

Caution! Changing the gear level is only possible when the core drill motor is switched off and the tool is at

a standstill. Never use tools (tongs, hammer, etc.) to change the gear level.

Switch off petrol motor and wait for the tool to stop.

Set the gear level using the gear lever (pos.1).

4. OPERATION

4.1. Safety

Danger! The core drill motor may only be used together with a core drill stand intended for this purpose. The core drill stand must be well connected to the floor.

Danger! Fumes from the petrol motor must be extracted away from the operating position by an exhaust hose. When drilling in excavation pits, the exhaust hose must be placed to ground level. Operation without, or with a defective exhaust hose is prohibited!

4.2. Preparations for starting

Danger! Ensure that the floor on which drilling is to be made fulfils load carrying capacities. All obstacles must be cleared away from the drilling area and make sure there is sufficient lighting.

Note

Check the drilling area for wires and lines to prevent drilling into electrical, water or gas lines.

To be able to use the core drill motor safely and properly, the following pre-requisites must be fulfilled:

Check the core drill motor for damages, loose screw connections and completeness of the attaching parts.

Fuel tank must be filled with sufficient fuel.

The core drill motor must be used in a core drill stand intended for this purpose.

A water source must be present to cool the tool (max. 3 bars).

A suitable tool that fulfils the optimum conditions.

The water cooling system must be functional.

The exhaust hose must be mounted to the machine.

4.3. Drilling

Danger!

The core drilling machine may only be put into operation, if all starting preparations are met. If this is not possible, the operation of the core drill motor is prohibited.

Introduce feed movement only once the petrol motor has reached its maximum speed

Slowly and evenly move the tool via feed movement into the floor

5. MAINTENANCE

5.1. Service

Danger! Maintenance and repair works may only be carried out by qualified personnel when the machine is turned off.

Cleaning

To protect painted surfaces no aggressive cleaning agents may be used.

Gear oil

The drive is maintenance free.

5.2. Overflow drill hole

Note No water may come from the overflow drill hole of the core drill machine. This is a sign that the machine sealing ring is defective.

7. WARRANTY

The warranty for this machine is 12 months. For the following listed wear parts the warranty only applies if the wear is not caused by operation.

Wear parts are parts that with intended use of the machine have limited operational wear. The wear time is not uniformly specified, it differs according to intensity of use. Wear parts are device specific and are to be maintained, adjusted and if required exchanged according to the manufacturers' operating manual.

Wear caused by operation does not qualify for warranty claims.
