  • Overview

This tutorial is intended for user which want to setup a Linksys WRT 3200ACM as router/switch with VLAN such as:

Installing OpenWrt on WRT 3200ACM will no longer explaining into this documentation because many other articles are available through internet in regards with this.

    Objective

The purpose of this documentation is to aim the user to setup the WRT 3200ACM Linksys router step-by-step with OpenWrt. Therefore, we assume that upstream connection (i.e. LRT-214) through the WAN port of the WRT 3200ACM is properly done and no support will be given at this point in order to fix any mishandling configuration.

  • 1 Router resetting Prior beginning configuration, the reset must be done to ensure that nothing has been previously configurated in order to avoid unwanted router behavior. Read Linksys documentation if you experience problems with the RESET.

1.1 Connecting router Once the reset is done, the router maybe be accessed through LAN port 1@4 using ethernet cable. Now, you can access your router using the default address 192.168.1.1 from your favorite internet browser and the Password must remain as empty and the click Login:

  • 1.2 Setup password In order to protect your configuration, enter your password.

    Menu: System/Administration

    Then Save button

    2 Disable Firewall Menu: System/Startup/Firewall

Then Save & Apply your change

  • 5 Wireless Interface Menu: Network/Wireless

Set wireless SSID below radio0 as Enable then Edit

  • Set wlan0 ESSID name

Good practice to set your secure password

Then Save your change and Save & Apply and verify that the AP works on vlan1

  • 6 Setup VLAN Menu: Network/Switch

Create VLAN 20, VLAN 30 and VLAN 40 and manage VLAN 1 as shown. Also, set WAN port as trunk:

  • 7 VLAN Interfaces Menu: Network/Firewall

    Then Save & Apply button

8 Firewall Traffic rules The firewall is disabled, but traffic is controlled by zones and all firewalling is done by the LRT-214Select

  • 9 Create VLAN Interfaces Menu: Network/Interfaces

    Click Add new interface

9.1 Add new interface Set the Name to match your vlan (i.e. vlan20), set Protocol as Unmanaged, select etho.1 into Interface drop list

    then click Create interface

  • select Firewall Settings and select your vlan into Create / Assign Firewall-zone drop list
