With Openwave Mobile Browser, manufacturers can enable a broad range of data experiences,improving subscriber interaction with mobile-specific and mainstream web content, as well asonline applications like search and messaging.

Support for OMA Browsing 2.2 standards,including ECMAScript MP, XHTML MPand WCSS 1.1, ensures that operators can continue delivering rich mobile portals and content subscription services. Browser innovations like powerful new table layoutalgorithms and progressive rendering enable access to HTML content and improve theresponsiveness of online services.

Openwave Mobile Browser also supports cHTML, the protocol used for viewing i-mode content in Japan.

Dynamic Content Interaction

ECMAScript Mobile Profile (Script) is the latestaddition to Openwave Mobile Browser in 2005.Script enables a more responsive web experience and significantly improves the usability of mobiledata services while making mobile phones more accessible to a broad spectrum of contentdevelopers. Script support reduces the number of network requests the browser needs to make—as application logic is enabled on the Openwavebrowser—thereby improving user interaction with online content.

Moving forward, Openwave intends to leverageScript, Scalable Vector Graphics and offlinebrowsing technology to offer a lightweight, easy-to-use environment for the developmentof powerful markup applications that function in on- and off-line contexts.

Cross-Application Integration

Openwave Mobile Browser supports a more usable and intuitive experience. As part of Openwave Phone Suite, it is tightlyintegrated with other core data applications such as Openwave Mobile Messaging Client. Features like “Send URL” and “Send Snapshot,”automatically invoke the messaging client so users can easily send a URL or screen shot.

The browser can be launched from otherapplications, letting users move quickly between tasks; (e.g. accessing the browser help menu during a Java™ game).

Openwave Mobile Browser delivers and manages a broad spectrum of content, so that operators can reap the full benefits ofinnovative new services.

The browser supports GIF, animated GIF, JPEG,PNG, BMP and WBMP content formats as wellas common audio and video streaming formats.It also supports Java downloads via MIDP-OTA2.0, in addition to content downloads via OMADownload 1.0.
