OpenScape UC Application is a highly open unified communications solution for enterprises that need an extremely scalable and flexible solution that can integrate into diverse IT and telephony environments, and existing Microsoft, Google, or IBM applications. Additionally, for enterprises seeking the transformational process efficiencies of communications embedded business processes (CEBP), this is the application that integrates seamlessly with other business applications and social media tools, streamlining the way you communicate, while maximizing and extending the value of your existing application investments.

OpenScape UC Application accelerates the pace of business by connecting people quickly and efficiently, allowing office workers, mobile workers and teleworkers to collaborate and share information seamlessly across boundaries of time and distance. It helps people be more in control of how, when and with whom they communicate, at any time during the day, whether they are physically located in one place, in geographically dispersed offices, or traveling from office to home or out of town. Its rich federated presence, mobility, and audio, web, and desktop video conferencing capabilities

improve employee productivity, while reducing communication costs, real estate costs and minimizing business travel.

OpenScape UC Application is flexible and modular, and offers a range of user-centric deployment options, depending on the requirements of your enterprise. From the basic, Personal edition to the more comprehensive Enterprise edition, OpenScape UC Application gives businesses of every size and type the flexibility they need to meet the diverse needs of their individual users.

Personal edition

This is an intuitive, entry-level soft client, ideal for self-managed individual contributors who are mostly office-based and occasionally mobile, and are highly dependent on an efficient and quick way to communicate with their contacts.

The Personal edition does not require the OpenScape UC Application server, making it easy and cost-effective to deploy, and can be used on any SIP PBX. It gives users soft phone functionality and very basic unified communications features such as call management and screening capabilities,

Key Capabilities of OpenScape UC Application

Multi-media Collaboration

OpenScape UC Application’s audio, web and video conferencing enhance collaboration and team productivity while minimizing 3rd-party conferencing services, and travel costs.

With just a few clicks, users can initiate planned or spontaneous voice, web, or desktop video conferencing sessions. By using Presence information, employees can instantly see whether a colleague is available, allowing spontaneous, easily initiated conferencing sessions. This provides employees with a convenient way to instantly collaborate in real-time, reaching the most available people, to facilitate faster action and decision-making.

OpenScape Audio Conferencing

Scheduled and ad-hoc audio conferences enable easy and quick collaboration with a single click from within the OpenScape client, or from your Microsoft Outlook, Google Mail or IBM Lotus Notes calendar. In addition, users can set up conferences in advance for specific work teams, making it easier and faster for experts within teams to be reached. With two clicks the conference can be launched, out-calling all participants at their preferred device, based on their availability, eliminating single-person dependencies within the organization. For example, a utility company can reach

“after-hours” teams, or “incident” teams to address an emergency situation that requires immediate collaboration and attention. During the conference, all participants can see who is on the call and the “active speaker”, while the monitor can mute all or individual participants, and lock the conference from new participants if needed.

OpenScape Web Collaboration

Web conferencing reduces over spending on business travel and third party web conferencing services, while enabling employees, partners and customers to share more ideas and information, to benefit from the collective wisdom of everyone.

OpenScape Web Collaboration provides a cost effective and efficient way to host meetings with up to 1000 session participants,

call journal, click-to-call to groupware and directory access, local call recording, ad-hoc audio and multi-party video conferencing with Continuous Presence video views and Voice Activated Switching.

Enterprise edition

The Enterprise edition offers an affordable, yet comprehensive and sophisticated set of unified communications and collaboration capabilities, with a flexible licensing structure that makes adding and changing functionality on a per-user basis, simple and cost effective.

The Enterprise edition offers multiple client and access options including a desktop client, a web client, and a mobile client that enables employees to use their mobile device to access unified communications features while traveling, or alternatively users can use the speech-enabled Voice Portal when they don’t have access to their PC or mobile device.

OpenScape UC Application helps enterprises to:

nn Manage costs for communications, business travel, and real estatenn Enhance employee collaboration and productivitynn Respond faster to customers, partners, and colleaguesnn Improve overall business execution, process and communications efficiencynn Leverage in-place telephony, IT, and application investments

supporting webinars, training sessions, project meetings, sales meetings, product demonstrations, and even to deliver remote support to customers and end-users.

From the OpenScape UC Application client or from the groupware client such as Microsoft Outlook, Google Mail, or IBM Lotus Notes, users can schedule combined audio and web conference sessions in one single step. Audio calls or conferences can easily be elevated to a web conferencing session with one click. Once the OpenScape Web Collaboration client is launched, users have one-click access to any of its features such as desktop or application sharing, document uploading, co-browsing, white-boarding, URL push, IM chat, and video chat.

Full motion multi-party H.264 desktop video chat capabilities are built into the solution for a more personalized and natural collaboration experience.

Mobile users with iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android, or any smartphone device can easily participate in a web conferencing session from anywhere via the OpenScape Web Collaboration Mobile Client.

OpenScape Web Collaboration also includes online support and remote control tools for administration, maintenance and desktop sharing on remote pc/servers, making it an excellent tool for facilitating faster problem resolution and improving customer service.

OpenScape Web Collaboration is easy to install with zero-touch client installation and less than

one hour to install the server by practically “anyone”, and is available as an option with OpenScape UC Application, or as a free-standing web collaboration solution.

OpenScape Desktop Videoconferencing

OpenScape Desktop Videoconferencing is an embedded software-based, multi-party enterprise videoconferencing feature available with OpenScape UC desktop clients. OpenScape’s videoconferencing provides Continuous Presence video views and Voice Activating Switching, so that all participants in the video call can be seen on screen at the same time, and everyone can see who is speaking. Any user with a standard desktop video camera or webcam can easily initiate or join video conferences right from their OpenScape desktop client. OpenScape Desktop Videoconferencing also interoperates with room solutions and desktop video phones from leading manufacturers.

Presence technology enables OpenScape users to view the availability and status of their key contacts. OpenScape UC Application offers a rich presence view across multiple channels such as voice, instant messaging (IM), and video. It provides users with “presence status” information about a contact’s availability, before they communicate, enabling them to choose the best method and time to communicate effectively on the first attempt. Users manage their own presence status and availability, and decide for whom they are available, at what times, under which circumstances, and over which media and device of choice.

With Federated Presence these capabilities are extended beyond your organization, to the community of people who work outside the walls of your office. In a federated network, OpenScape users can share their user and IM presence availability and exchange instant messages with people outside your organization

who are using any XMPP-capable UC solution on the market today.

Presence-based real-time communications ensure that every user stays connected and productive regardless of where they are or what device they are using. Connecting to key people faster and more seamlessly means improved responsiveness, faster time to market, and better customer service.

Mobility

OpenScape UC Application ensures that highly mobile employees stay connected and productive at the least possible cost. One Number Service for example, allows users to publish only one number, and be reached on the lowest cost network, anywhere, anytime, and on the device of their choice. Users set their preferred device (e.g. office phone, home phone, mobile phone, laptop) and

OpenScape will forward all calls to that device. For additional convenience, their preferred device can automatically change based on their presence status. For example, a full-time teleworker may set their preferred device to be their home phone whenever their presence status is set to Available. Device Handover reduces mobile network costs, by enabling users to easily “handover” an existing call from their office phone to their mobile phone when leaving their desk while on a call.

The OpenScape Mobile Client provides additional convenience, flexibility and efficiency for highly mobile workers who wish to use their mobile device to access and manage their communications while on the go. Mobile Client users can benefit from presence awareness of key contacts, quick access to conferences, setting their presence status and preferred device, among many other OpenScape UC Application features. It provides voice over IP capabilities, and its intuitive Call Swipe (i.e. Device Handover) capability makes it possible to seamlessly transfer a call from the mobile device to any nearby direct-dial desktop phone – and vice-versa – with little more than a simple finger swipe across the touch screen. Call Swipe even enables you to move from the cellular network to a local WLAN using SIP-based VoIP to avoid cellular usage and roaming fees.

The OpenScape Mobile client is a single mobile application that is “app store” ready, and can run on the most popular mobile device platforms, including the iPad/ iPhone as well as Android tablets and smartphones.

The DTMF and speech-enabled Voice Portal provides access to OpenScape UC Application features from any phone, while away from the desk, and allows users to retrieve and process email and voice messages from a single unified voice mailbox. The speech portal supports Natural Language Understanding (NLU) which

enables you to talk to the system as you would talk to another human being without having to follow or wait for prompts.

Communications Embedded Business Processes

OpenScape UC Application is built on the Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) as its framework, which means it’s extremely open and flexible. This openness enables it to easily connect and integrate with virtually any other application in your existing communications infrastructure. This results in protection of your in-place technology investments, increased employee productivity, and more streamlined workflows and business processes.

For example, OpenScape UC Application can be integrated with Microsoft Outlook making unified communications accessible from within the Outlook client. With this integration, users can access, initiate, and receive their communications directly from within their Outlook client. They can set their presence status and preferred device, schedule a conference, check voicemail, or send an IM. This adds simplicity and value to the user’s experience, especially for employees who use their Outlook client as their primary place for doing business. This integration is out-of-the-box and is available to every user at no extra cost.

Another example is the integration with Salesforce.com to drive sales efficiencies. Context-specific presence information for key subject matter experts is displayed within the application and within the context of the workflow, allowing a project manager or sales person to reach out to a client, team member, or product specialist, with a single click for IM chat consulting, or to bring them into an impromptu conference call. This makes each interaction more productive and more profitable. This is a custom integration available on a project-specific basis, requires professional services, and additional development and license costs.

Communications embedded business processes or CEBP eliminates the need to search directories or toggle between applications, making communications to the right people at the right time only a click away, saving time, and enabling employees to execute business more quickly and efficiently.
