Visual Style & Camera• I hope that the visual style will match and reinforce the message of the

opening sequence. The main message behind my opening sequence is to ultimately showcase and exaggerate the ‘freedom’ that many teenagers have today and how they can try out new things. In comparison to their parents that had to generally be a spitting image of their parents in every aspect.

• The camera angles we hope to use across the whole of our opening sequence are close-ups, extreme close-ups, mid shots, long shots, tracking shots, panning shots, low angle shots, POV shots and over the shoulder shots. Obviously we aim to use more than this in our opening sequence but we want to ensure that they create a sense of continuity and make sure they work effectively with our opening sequence.

Narrative (Brief)• Although I said our old opening sequence idea didn’t have a clear narrative, this

one does. The opening sequence is meant to give a hidden story about the ‘freedom’ that teenagers have nowadays.

• Firstly, the opening scene starts off with two secondary school students (Protagonists) that are passionate about art. One of them are drawing a picture and the other researching different styles of art... When he stumbles across ‘graffiti’. Music plays in the background as it shows multiple scene where they are opening their graffiti equipment the brought. The next shot shows them in school about to graffiti the walls... Once they start a teacher (Antagonist) walks around the corner, the students run. They run just outside school where they see a house just to their right... One of the students aim to graffiti the wall one is more cautious. Just as they start the owner (Antagonist) walks from his back garden and shouts, the students begin to run again. As they are running one of the students run into a pedestrian, he then apologizes by which time the camera slowly tilts up to showcase the name of the movie opening sequence.

Mise en Scene• The mise en scene within our opening sequence is something that we have

thought about a lot. However, with the constant moving of location we considered this aspect considerably hard to judge. Instead of giving up, I have decided myself to add small details and items within each scene where there is action that viewers can pick out to give them a small and vague insight to what might happen next in the opening sequence.

• For example, when the two students go into the school to graffiti the walls their will be a school bag in the background where a student (not the main characters) is helping a PE teacher to put away equipment into the store cupboard. (The protagonists don’t know this) This is meant to be a subtle hint to the viewers to give them a sense of their surroundings and what might happen next in the sequence.

• NOTE – This is only an example of one that will be included in the sequence.

Characterisation• Throughout the whole of the opening sequence I hope to portray the

characters as more curious, mischievous and ultimately eccentric students in terms of the way their personalities are. This is due to the hidden message I have previously talked about on one of the slides. I believe by doing this it will help to successfully portray that message as the students are not acting the same as their parents did and that these particular students are creative, independent and passionate about art. Also it will exaggerate the freedom that they have because they were able to start something they truly love by discovering it more in a new way.

• The characters will dress like typical teenagers wearing clothing like flannel shirts, skinny jeans, vans (or other plimsolls) with normal hair.
