Friends in Christ: Let us draw near to God our Father with a true heart to confess our sins, and ask him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to forgive us.

Our help is in the name of the Lord. He made heaven and earth.

I said, I will confess my sins to the Lord.

Then he forgave the guilt of my sin.

Page 9: OPENING L: Let us begin in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen

P: Almighty God, our maker and redeemer,

we confess to you that by nature we are sinful and unclean, and that we have sinned against you

by thought, word, and deed. Therefore we flee for refuge to your

infinite mercy and plead for your grace for thesake of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Page 10: OPENING L: Let us begin in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen

10

C. Most merciful God, you have given your only Son to die for us.Have mercy on us, and for his sakegrant us forgiveness of all our sins.By your Holy Spirit increase our knowledge of you and your will, and make us obedient to your word,so that by your grace we may come to eternal life;through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, has had mercy on us, and has given his only Son to die for us, and for his sake forgives us all our sins. To those who believe in his name he has given the right to become children of God, and has given them his Holy Spirit. Whoever believes and is baptised will be saved. Grant this, Lord, to us all.

Amen.

The CREED

We believe in one God,the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth,of all that is, seen and unseen.

Page 20: OPENING L: Let us begin in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,

eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made,

of one Being with the Father;through him all things were

made.

Page 21: OPENING L: Let us begin in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen

For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was

incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary

and became truly human.

Page 22: OPENING L: Let us begin in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he

suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again

in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

Page 23: OPENING L: Let us begin in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the

dead, and his kingdom will have no end.We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy Christian and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

What a friend we have in Jesus,All our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carryEverything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit,O what needless pain we bear,

All because we do not carryEverything to God in prayer.
