Welcome to Brentwood School. I hope you enjoy your morning with us and come away with a better understanding of life at Brentwood and the limitless opportunities this School has to offer.

Feel free to wander around our 75-acre campus, take a tour with a pupil and pop into classrooms and join in the fun activities. Our Sixth Form praepostors will be happy to point you in the right direction – look out for their blue gowns – and staff are on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Towards the back of this programme you will find a handy map and information regarding the Brentwood School Foundation. The Foundation’s clear focus is on providing Bursaries for the vast number of talented pupils whose parents cannot afford to send them to the School. I am very proud of the work we have achieved so far, and hope you will join us in our commitment to Changing Lives.

If you get hungry, you will find refreshments being served throughout the morning in our Bean Academic Centre.

Have a great morning!

Michael Bond Headmaster Designate

School Development

Ashton and Reception Development

In addition to developments that are currently underway at our Preparatory School site, for pupils aged 3-11, our Senior School campus is also experiencing an uplift. Architects Cottrell and Vermeulen, who previously designed the Otway expansion and Bean Academic Centre, have returned to redesign the Ashton building and Reception.

As always, their designs are set to be in-keeping with the School’s historic architecture, with the desire to open up the area and improve the visibility of some of the School’s oldest buildings – Old Big School and the Chapel. The Reception area is also being remodelled to create a warm and welcoming environment for all who visit Brentwood School.

This is by no means a purely aesthetic renovation however. The Ashton building is being refurbished in order to make way for modern, well-equipped classrooms andstate-of-the-art facilities. The development is currently well underway and it is anticipated to be finished by the end of 2019.

Our mission statement

The mission of the Foundation is to enrich and benefit the School by ensuring that no successful applicant in the Brentwood School Entrance Examination is prevented by financial reasons from taking up a place.

Our aim

The aim of the Foundation is to raise sufficient money to provide additional bursaries and facilities, to achieve our mission and ensure that a Brentwood School education is available to those children who might benefit but whose families do not have the financial means to fund it.

Brentwood gives everybody from any background and ability the opportunity to get involved and develop their skills. The high quality of teaching and my teachers’ selflessness is reflected in the results that I achieved, that I believe would not have been possible in any other school.

When I was awarded a bursary for Brentwood School, I was delighted and knew that this opportunity would be life-changing for me. It has enhanced my confidence in myself and in my abilities, and has enabled me to try new things and provides countless opportunities other schools simply do not.I appreciate that a place at Brentwood School allows the best start possible to young adult life. I have enjoyed every minute of my time at the School so far and I cannot wait for the adventures awaiting me.

Our progress so far

Generous donations from Old Brentwoods, parents and friends of the School enable the School to provide valuable bursaries and scholarships to as many as 20% of our current pupils.

In the academic year 2017/18, 98 pupils received bursary funding. Of these, transformational bursaries were enjoyed by 26 pupils; their parents paying no fees at all.
