Open House 2015-16
Fifth Grade: Mrs. Newhard
Terrific Tiger Behavior
Students are expected to follow the 5 Tiger Rules at all times throughout the day.
Students who are exhibiting appropriate behavior in school situations will on occasion be rewarded with a Tiger Paw.
Students will be required to fill out a “Think Sheet” if they are not following the rules - These will be sent home and require a parent signature.
Please feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions regarding your child’s behavior.
Reader’s Logs
400 pages per marking
Many of your children will be able to complete their reading during the school day.
It sounds confusing, but it’s really simple.
Reader’s Log continued
One log per book
One-two projects per marking period
If your child is struggling to complete this requirement, please let me know so I can help you solve this problem.
My goal is for them to love reading and help improve their comprehension.
Math
Topic 1 was completed in their homeroom. The students will be grouped for the remainder of the year to help meet their needs.
We take a quiz at the end of each topic. This give us a chance to review with students if necessary. The quiz will be completed on the chromebook. A test will be given at the end of each topic. It is hard to determine test dates in advance so please check your child’s assignment book.
Science and Social Studies
Will be taught in homeroom.
We will alternate one social studies unit and then one science unit.
Homework
Homework is always written on the homework board in each classroom.
Provide a quiet place for your child to complete his/her homework.
Homework should take 30-60 minutes most nights.
