Second, peruse the Calendar of Events and the Ways You Can Help sections to find out how you can become an important contributor and supporter of any one of the upcoming events that the Oakridge Parents’ Club provides the students of Oakridge. The OPC members are excited to begin another school year and we want YOU on our team. If you haven’t joined “the club” yet, do it now!

2012-2013 has been a wonderful and successful year for The Oakridge Parents’ Club. Meet and Greet, Membership Drive and Pastries for Parents offered a wonderful way to meet other parents and learn about OPC… Thank you Molly Davis, Jamie Leon, Debby Pond, Christy Fielder, Cindy Pettigrew and Tessa Guevara! Magazine Sales, Book Fair, Uniform Resale, Target Education Support Program and Box Tops for Education have enabled the OPC to once again allocate thousands of dollars back to Oakridge at every division level. Thank you Alison Fawthrop, Pam Pierson, Carol Bernhart, Lara Haddock, Victoria Walker, Stephanie Choudhry, Lisa Greve, Carole Cummins, Gay Swinney and Shawna Wright! Owlfest, All Divisional Activities, Grandparents’ Day, Holiday Treasures and Test Snacks celebrated throughout the year, give the students fun memories and much needed respites from their daily lessons. The End is Near! Seniors turn back the clock on last day of uniforms

How can you help? 1. Become a Member! If you aren’t a member, sign up for the OPC. Contact Membership VP – Deme Cleveland (whosit@sbcglobal.net). 2. Donate your old uniforms! We are always looking for gently-used uniforms for the Uniform Resale Shop. 3. Shop! Shop at participating retailers to help raise money for our school (see school website under Ways to Give for details): Tom Thumb Albertson’s Kroger Office Depot Target 4. Collect Box Tops and Soup Labels! Labels and Box Tops are collected at various locations in each division.

AFTER PROM PARTY Help us make the 2013 After Prom Party the best ever! Each year the Parents’ Club sponsors the After Prom Party. This is a safe, fun-filled overnight lock-in following the Prom for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. This year the party will be held at Alley Cats on Saturday, May 11th from 12 am – 5 am. The students will go have the opportunity to win many raffle prizes, play casino games, bowl, rock climb, play laser tag, eat and have tons of fun! The doors will lock at 1:30 AM and no one will be allowed to leave until 5:00 AM. In order to make this event a success, we need donations of Gift Cards (stores, gas, food), Electronics (TVs, laptops, etc.) and cash. MAGAZINE SALES Just a reminder that the annual magazine sale is in the Fall. This is the largest fundraiser for the OPC and enables us to hold events like Owlfest, Holiday Treasures, and provide test snacks during exams along with many other things. We earn 40 to 50% of what is sold and every dollar goes back to your students throughout the year. Magazine Sales will run from August 30 through September 18, 2013. If you can't wait until Fall to renew your subscription, you can do it anytime during the year through the website and the OPC will still benefit. The website is: www.gaschoolstore.com. NEW EVENT!! As parents know, when a new school year is on the horizon, so are multiple trips to school to turn in forms, purchase uniforms and make payments. In an effort to simplify the various tasks of preparing for school to begin, Oakridge Parents’ Club will partner with the Owl Club and School to offer a Back to School Fair. The Fair will be located in one central location on campus and will take place on Friday August 16, 2013. You will find OPC Membership, Owl Club (memberships, PE uniforms, and spirit attire), Uniform Resale, Food 4 Life and medical form turn-in to Nurse Kim.
