Our October 7th Field Trip was to the Florida Museum of
Photographic Arts in Tampa.
Fifteen LWRDPC members drove to Tampa to view the current
exhibits: Marvels of the Reef by various photographers and the
Hotel Room Portraits: Richard Renaldi & Seth Boyd
We were split into two groups and led by two rather decent docents through the halls while they
gave us some information about what we were seeing.
We were turned away from our first choice of restaurants for lunch because of space
considerations, but were accommodated almost immediately by a nearby restaurant. While
lunching we had a chance to discuss what we had seen in the museum and to chat among
ourselves. After lunch, some took advantage of being in beautiful Tampa to shoot some street
scenes.

October Meeting – the October 21st meeting was the last regular meeting at
Lakewood Ranch Town Hall. We hosted Erica Matyas and Karen Hodge. Erica is
a renowned pet photographer who works closely with local animal shelters, by
photographing animals being offered for adoption. Erica shared her insights into
getting good pet photos.
Karen Hodge works with Manatee Animal services and heads the PTA – Picture
Them Adopted initiative. The initiatives encourages citizens to become more
active in securing the adoption of animals by photographing the animals in a more
appealing way than a doggie Mug Shot would.

Learning & Individual Development – Classes will resume in February with
the following categories:
Beginning Photography
Intermediate Editing
Advanced Editing
Classes generally offer a total of 12 hours of instruction, practice, interaction with
fellow photographers, and resources for follow-up self-instruction. The primary
goal is to have fun while becoming better photographers in an environment where
we all learn from each other.
Courses Cover:
All LWRDPC classes are free to members, but donations are appreciated to help
defray the cost of developing courses and paying for materials, etc. The generous
donations from last year's participants allowed us to expand our offering to a third
course this fall and we are happy to see so many of our "graduates" winning
ribbons and participating in club functions and posting some amazing images
online. Mark the dates on your calendar and look for the announcement of the
signup and details of each course's lesson plans coming soon.
