What else do you need to know?Do I have to have a roommate to live in a room or an apartment?

No. Please try your best to find a roommate. But if you have not found a roommate, you will still be given a lottery time, at which you may choose whichever rooms are still available. If you

do not wish to have a roommate, you can request to be placed on a Single Room waiting list. Please keep in mind that if you choose to live in a single, you will be billed at a higher rate.

I will have an early Lottery time. I do not intend to live on campus, but I would like to select on-campus housing to “save” it for a friend of mine. Is that possible?

No, if you make a housing selection, you are committed to living there for the entire academic year.

But, I have more questions… What types of apartments are available?

In order to view the housing profiles please go to:

http://www.onu.edu/student_life/residence_life/housing_profiles

What are my options if we are want to have three people live together?

University Terrace (UT) and Lima Complex are the only buildings that offer triple occupancy.

UT will offer a two bedroom apartment, and one room will have two beds.

Lima will offer a two bedroom suite, with one bedroom having two beds.

Almost done… I will be a Sophomore and my friend will be a Junior and we have selected to be roommates. Will I be able to select my housing during the first round because of my friend’s credit hours?

No. If you and a friend select and confirm to be roommates, but would technically be placed in different rounds, the friend with the most credit hours will automatically be placed in the

second round.

I am studying abroad/doing a co-op/internship for a semester. What housing should I select?

If you are planning on being in a co-op position, then you will need to communicate with the Office of Residence Life regarding your intentions. If you choose a housing assignment, then you will forfeit your selection to The Office of Residence Life, you are not allowed to give your

room to another student.

One last question… What are the chances that I will get the room that I want?

Lottery times are generated by our computer program based on the number of credit hours you have. The higher your credit hours, the earlier your lottery time will be, thus you will have more options when selecting your housing assignment. Typically, students with more credit hours desire to live in an apartment, but this is not

always the case.

THERE WILL BE NO ROOM CHANGES ONCE YOU CHOOSE YOUR HOUSING ASSIGNEMENT FOR THE 2015-2016 ACADEMIC YEAR.

THERE IS A STRICT HOUSING FREEZE UNTIL 2 WEEKS AFTER THE START OF FALL SEMESTER 2015-2016.

Thank you! If you have any other questions, concerns, or special circumstances, please do not hesitate to contact the Residence Life office via email, [email protected].
