North Olmsted City Schools Online/eLearning Plan Grade: 3rd Grade Dear Families, The following information has been created by the district Third Grade Team as a way for your child to continue to practice educational skills and stay engaged in learning during the extended school closure. We have planned a variety of activities that would not only engage your child, but also provide fun opportunities for you to interact with them. Please use these resources to guide learning. Should you have any questions, please first contact your child’s teacher by email; or next, contact your child’s principal (Chestnut - Mr. Monnin at [email protected]; Pine - Mrs. D’Amico at terese.d’[email protected]; Maple - Mr. Alexandrou at [email protected]). We are providing choices for you. The goal is for students to spend approximately 15 minutes per day on each subject area: reading, writing, and math. For example, a student might choose a book on Bookflix or read for 15 minutes, then write a response to that reading, followed up by 15 minutes of math practice on MobyMax. Please use the resources that your child is familiar using. Our hope is that students stay engaged and enjoy this opportunity to individualize their learning. Technology Resources You will be receiving information from the district on how to log in to your child’s Clever account to access our electronic resources. All of the resources below are available electronically (i.e. chromebooks, computers, phones, etc.). Students will use their Clever login to access each resource. Students should be familiar with most if not all of these electronic resources. If there are questions on how to access or use any of the resources, please contact your child’s teacher. 3rd Art Plan Dear Families, Hello from your art educators, Mr. Cherney, Mr. Chrosniak, Mrs. Michal, and Miss Martynowski! We will miss you while we are away. We have created one art idea for you each week. We are happy to answer any questions you may have. Anything that you make on your own can be brought into art class for a show-and-tell when we return. If you want to try some additional drawing? Art For Kids Hub is an excellent and safe for kids YouTube Channel that has great step by step how to draw videos. Please continue to draw, doodle, paint, and make while you are away. We hope all of you stay healthy during this extended time off! The North Olmsted Elementary Art Department

Activity for Week 1:

Grade 3: Draw a scene from your favorite book. Read the passage from your book as inspiration. Draw in pencil first and color using any materials you may have on hand (crayons, colored pencils, markers, even pens).

Activity for Week 2:

Grade 3: Draw a scene from your favorite movie or cartoon show. Watch your show or movie as inspiration. Draw in pencil first and color using any materials you may have on hand (crayons, colored pencils, markers, even pens).

Activity for Week 3:

Grade 3: Design a character for a cartoon or video game. What will they look like? Do they have a special power or ability, how will you show that? Draw in pencil first and color using any materials you may have on hand (crayons, colored pencils, markers, even pens).

Activity for Week 4:

Grades 3-5: Analyze any artwork that you have created over the past few weeks. In a few sentences describe your work of art. Use these questions as prompts: What colors did you use? What subject matter did you choose and why? If you had to create the work again what would you change about it? What do you feel you did well on? Did you title your work, if so what is it called? What was your source of inspiration? There is no need to answer all of these questions, pick the ones you like or come up with your own. Feel free to write this analysis on a seperate sheet of paper or the back of your artwork. For an additional challenge write an analysis on an artwork in a museum. Use books or the internet to find an interesting piece you like and change the prompts to fit. Write down the artists name, title, and date of the work.
