1. Introduction

Online Race Manager is a solution for round organizing, ticket printing, live timing and drivers

personal results page on the web for arrive and drive karting centers.

2. Installation requirements

The Online Race Manager is a web based solution, which runs in the most common web

browsers (Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer). The optimal

configuration for Track Admin interface with automatic ticket printing option is:

● Mozilla Firefox 11.0 (or higher)

● Js Print Setup (Firefox addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/js-print-setup)

● Label printer (for ticket printing)

● TV / Monitor / Projector (showing Track Screen and Live Screen)

● Tablet or Netbook (for driver registration)

● Card reader with keyboard input (for membership cards)

Our Windows-based (XP, Vista, 7, 8) application KartTimerUploader has to be used to upload

the data generated by timing system hardware (laps and times) to the web. Additionally it can

drive different types of LED displays.

3. Quick Start Guide● Install the timing system hardware.

● Start KartTimerOnline application. Specify Track Id, and Track Password. This will be

sent to you after creating a new track by us.

● Log in to the track admin interface (www.kart-timer.com/drivers/admin) with your Track

Admin account Username and Password. This will be sent to you after creating a new

track admin account by us.

● Go to the Karts view, and add your karts to the list, by specifying kart number and

transmitter number. Timing is not working for karts which are missing from the list!

● Go to the Rounds view, and create a new round. You don’t need to assign drivers for

basic timing operations (in this case, the driver will be set as unknown).

● Go to the Lap Timer view, and start the next round. Use your karts. The results should

appear in the list.

4. Kart Driver Interface

This chapter is focusing on what is the normal workflow of the Online Race Manager solution

from driver’s point of view.

Register

First step is registering into the driver database (see the picture below). Registration can be

done from the www.kart-timer.com/drivers webpage. Drivers can register themselves, or the

track workers can register them also. It is recommended to use tablets or computers (as

kiosks) at the karting center guest area to minimize the track worker’s workload. Registration is

required only once for one driver.

Buy a ticket

Drivers can buy a ticket if they are registered into the database (see the picture below).

The ticket shows the driver name, round number, kart number, and some additional

information.

Check the track screen

While the drivers are waiting for their rounds, they can check the Track Screen on the HD

resolution monitor (see the picture below). The track screen has two fields, showing the last

round’s results, and the next round’s who drives what table. Track screen can be reached

publicly on the web.

Drive

After the drivers are showing on the Next Round who drives what table, they can prepare for

driving. The track worker can check the ticket to sit the driver into the right kart, or the drivers

can check it by themselves. The current round results are shown in the Live Screen (see the

picture below) which can be reached publicly on the web.

HDTV or projector can be used to show the Live Screen to the drivers while they are driving

(this solution works for indoor kart centers, where the sunlight doesn’t disturb the screen

quality). Optionally, LED displays from several manufacturers can be used to show the current

round results for the drivers. Drivers can check their results on the Track Screen’s Last Round

section after the round, or at the printed result report (see the picture below).

Log In to Personal Profile

Drivers can log in to their personal profile (see the picture below). They can see every round

they have ever run in the list. After clicking on the details icon, the round details are showing

up. Printing the results again, download the lap times, or sharing the results on Facebook is

just one click away from the round details view. Also the other driver’s profile can be checked

if it is set to be public.

5. Track Admin Interface

This chapter is focusing on what is the normal workflow of the Online Race Manager solution

from Track Administrator point of view. Administrator should log into the Admin page at

www.kart-timer.com/drivers/admin. Different functions can be reached from the menu bar at

the left side (see the picture below)

Organize New Round

New rounds can be organized from the Track Administrator’s Round view (see the picture

below). The rounds waiting on the queue are listed at the table. They can be edited until they

are not started. New round can be organized by clicking the New Round button, and setting

the round details. Intelligent fill in round details is available, with remembering the last settings,

and setting the round date according to the round durations in round queue.

The Assign Driver view is then showing up, where the drivers at the driver database can be

assigned to the karts at the track (see the figure below).

Finding the driver in the database is easy by using the quick search box. After assigning the

driver to the kart, a ticket is printed with the driver, round and kart details (see the Buy a Ticket

chapter before). It is possible to print ticket for a driver who is not registered into the database

by clicking the New button, and specifying the driver name. Membership card can be

assigned to the driver by clicking the card field (Quick search is performed for card IDs also).

Run Next Round

Next round in the Rounds queue can be started from the Lap Timer view (see the picture

below) by clicking the red flag. The Lap Timer and Rounds view can be operated by different

track workers, so it is possible to have one worker just registering the drivers and printing

tickets and results, another just running the races (even from a smartphone with internet

connection).

Print Results

The results are appearing in the print view list after the round was stopped (see the picture

below). They can be printed from here if necessary. Drivers can print the results from their

personal profile also.

6. Settings

This chapter is focusing on the Online Race Manager settings.

Track Settings

Every track using the Online Race Manager solution has a Track Page at our website (see the

picture below).

The details of the track page can be edited on the Track settings view (see the picture below).

Also the printed results, and tickets are using the track information. The default label printer

which is used automatically can be set also here (works only in Firefox with JS Print Setup

addon).

Kart Settings

Kart settings view shows the available karts at the track (see the picture below). New kart can

be added, and the karts in the list can be edited. The kart-transmitter assignment, the active

flag and the last service date are saved for each kart. Not active karts are not showing up in

the driver assignment view.

User settings

Every track can have more users with two different account types: Track Administrator, and

Round Organizer. Track Administrator can create and remove user accounts for the track

workers.

7. Race Manager Uploader

Our Windows-based (XP, Vista, 7, 8) application Race Manager Uploader has to be used to

upload the data generated by timing system hardware to the web (see the picture below).

Additionally it can drive different types of LED displays. You can download the Race Manager

Uploader from kart-timer.com/publish/racemanageruploader.zip.
