Online Pathway to Graduation

Before you begin

Students enrolled in the Online Pathway to Graduation program must be able to work online effectively. Before you begin be sure that you can:

•Attend required proctored exams and access support at the Center for Technology Innovation, 4 Choke Cherry Road, Rockville, Maryland.

•Have technology to connect to the internet daily

•Have a dedicated time to work on your courses. The workload for an online class is the same or more than a traditional face-to-face classroom.

•Maintain an active email account

Tips for SuccessCreate a weekly schedule for your time spent working online.

Each section in an online class will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.

Print the study guide(s) for your class.

Take notes while reading and viewing course materials.

Save your password and username in a safe place. If you have a cell phone, we recommend you save it in your contacts section.

If you have questions, contact your teacher by email or visit the support center on a day when your teacher is available.

Practice TestsPractices tests are graded assignments.

Most classes have one practice test in every unit, some have two.

Finish the unit practice test for each unit before coming to the center to take a Unit test.

If you need help with the a practice test , come to the center when your subject teacher is present.

If you are taking an English class your teacher will give you instructions for using turnitin.com to hand in your practice test.

TestingAll unit tests must be taken in person at CTI. Students should expect a paper and pencil and online test for each unit in each course. The number of unit tests varies from course to course; plan on at least five written and five online unit tests per class.

All the unit’s work, including practice assignments, must be completed before taking the unit tests.

Tests may be taken any evening, Monday through Thursday, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm even if your teacher is not present.

You must begin each test before 6:30 pm.

A student may take quizzes on his or her own.

Notes and other study guides ARE allowed during quizzes.

If you earn below 60 % on a quiz, review the section and your notes before your next attempt.

If you fail a quiz a second time, come to CTI for individualized tutoring.
