Online Form Submission Title: WATERFRONT RECREATION PARK Details: "The Vision The Waterfront Recreation Park provides serendipity along the foreshore and ready access to Sydney’s magnificent bays and harbour. Visitors are encouraged to stroll, sit and linger while enjoying the colour and movement of paddlers in a variety of human powered recreational crafts like kayaks, outrigger canoes, stand-up paddle boards, and dragon boats. For the more adventurous, explore the bays from a boat! Sign up with one of the friendly community organisations for a lesson and a paddle. Perhaps you’re partial to travelling back in time by hopping on a heritage vessel, or, learn about origins and culture of Pacific vaa’s and dragon boats as you stroll the park and its facilities. We welcome the UrbanGrowth plan to complete the foreshore promenade between Glebe and Jacksons Landing. This is a wonderful opportunity to realise the vision for Bank Street as a boating precinct for paddlers and heritage craft and an active urban waterfront recreation park. Design Considerations The design intent is to maximise the opportunity of the open space towards Blackwattle Bay. On one hand, the ANZAC bridge freeway above provides poor amenity for quiet passive open space with the issues of over shadowing, noise and scale detracting from this environment. On the other hand, it provides a strong backdrop to create an urban Waterfront Park with a maritime precinct with cultural and heritage themes. Submission by: Community Water Sports Centre (CWSC), a not for profit organisation, whose charter is to open up the beauty and joys of Sydney harbour to the average Jane and Joes. To provide a facility that provides access to a broad base of users, and, a broad range of non-motorised recreational craft where safety instructions and skills would be provided to achieve safe enjoyment on the water. Supported by: The Star Sydney, a business with a significant presence in Pyrmont, has an interest in improving the social infrastructure of the area for the benefit of residents, employees and visitors. Pyrmont Community Bank® Branch of Bendigo Bank, community owned branch whose constitution provides for significant profits flowing back to the local community. This primarily achieved by working with the local community, local government and local businesses to fund community driven needs.
