The reproducibility of coatings obtained by thermal spraying & cold spraying processes depends on parameters such as:-

• Plasma current, primary & secondary gas flows• Oxy-fuel ratio (HVOF)• Wire spool radius (wire-arc)• Oxidation during spraying• Cooling water temperature• Gas purity• Carrier gas flow• Substrate temperature• Quality of feedstock materials as well as initial temperature• Part preparation• And more!

In the mid 80’s Thermal Spray Specialists recognized requirement for bringing the process to the next level. There was need for sensors able to provide real-time, in-flight particles information just before impingement on the part. These sensors are able to monitor real time characteristics of particles such as:-

• Particle temperature• Velocity• Size• Flux• Trajectory

In 1994, TECNAR has been the pioneer company in offering the first commercially available thermal spray sensor (DPV-2000).  Ever since, TECNAR has remained THE leader in that field with more than 450x sensors (DPV-2000/eVOLUTION, ColdSprayMeter, Accuraspray G3 & G3C, PlumeSpector, ShotMeter, SprayView) out in the field all around the world.

For thermal spray & cold spray processes Tecnar offer 02 different models :-

1. The Accuraspray G3C 2. The DPV eVOLUTION3. The PlumeSpector &4. The SprayView

1. Accuraspray G3C

• Industrial online monitoring & control of thermal spray

processes.

• Test pieces & wasted production can be significantly reduced

or even eliminated entirely.

• Values of all parameters are continuously recorded, displayed

& compared on screen against user adjustable tolerances.

Accuraspray G3C record, display & compare following spray parameters:-

• Average Particle Temperature

• Average Particle Velocity

• Position of the Spray Plume

• Width of the Spray Plume

• Maximum Luminosity of the Spray Plume

• Overall Intensity of the Spray Plume

• Sensor Head Temperature

• Substrate Temperature (Optional)

2. DPV eVOLUTION

• Online monitoring of individual particle characteristics in

thermal /cold spray plumes.

• Simultaneous measurement of temperature, velocity, size &

flow of up to 800 individual particles/sec depending on the

spraying conditions.

DPV eVOLUTION record, display & compare spray parameters of each individual particle with following features :-

• Live histogram distributions including mean & std.

deviation

• Computer controlled auto-centering feature for

automatic finding of plume center.

• Computer controlled cross-sectional mapping of the

spray plume.

• Touch screen simplified user-interface.

• Substrate temperature measurement (Optional)
