Online Application Overview This factsheet contains the screens of the Advanced Learner Loan online application journey to give you visibility of how the application is structured. You may wish to show this to your learners so that they know what to expect when applying
Applying for Advanced Learner Loan The Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) schemes are both funded by Student Finance England (SFE) and they are hosted via gov.uk Learners eligibility is primarily based on them being 19 years or older on the first day of their course. The system rules in the online application identify the age of an applicant when they register their personal details. The option to complete the Advanced Learner Loan application is only made available to people over 18 years old and who will turn 19 before the end of the current Academic Year (AY). If a learner will not be 19 on the first day of their course, the application system will deem them Ineligible immediately and the application will never be Approved. If a learner applies on paper, SLC derive their date of birth from their identity evidence, and once the data is entered into the system, it performs the same checks as outlined above.
