A mixed and condensed program which inspires an idea of global consistency: develop this "fragment of city in the city" like an organism composed of organs, esh and ows.

First by a void/solid reverse between existing building and projected building, by this way, preserved facades are drawing a patio, fossil mark of the old building, which is the lung, the hearth of the projected building.

Multitude of spaces and uses with specics features are linked to compose a coherent unity in constant evolution and renewal wrapped up around its "lung".

This building is sculpted, cute, to let circulate the air and enter the light in its depth. It denes a contrast between the external skin homogeneity and the activity in the revealed esh.

An "artery" network, like public space extensions, takes passer-by and users ows through this density.

The external facade, like a "derm", contracts or dilates its pores network, according to features of uses and spaces it covers (ceiling height, light exposure) and writing a original partition, ngerprint of the building.

Facades around internal gap let appear spaces of life and appropriation in constant evolution (interior garden, loggias), like individual housing extensions, providing a natural thermic regulation (summer and winter comfort).

This project is based on the gap in an angle of a wall .

This angle creates a connection with the urban space, denes a student circulation and a visitor promenade.

Specic spaces are created to improve exchanges between visitors and students.

BREAKING DOWN, STRUCTURE + ENVELOPE

CONNECTIONS DETAILS

This high volum allows diversied uses and exhibitions.

The structure is composed of a undertensed roof put on triple post providing the stability of the whole pavilion.

Openings at the top of each facade lets cables cross it and provides a natural air cooling system.Theses openings can be obstructed in winter by an isolating slip system. The roof layer extented beyond the facades becomes brise-soleil.Rainwater is drained round the back.

PROCESS : - Empty the stairwell

- Extend it to the place du 18 juin 1940 tu hang-up a pod, "distribution cube" in the dark layer of the Galeries Lafayette

- Work on this dark layer and its joint with the horizontal plane of the terrace (wich can be extended in overhanging).

- Unify the distribution cube and the emptyed stairwell (now a patio) to create a global volume expressing llinks between levels.

Connection of the terrace (place Jean Tossan) to the place du 18 Juin 1940PROBLEMS:

Analysis shows a lack of links between upper and lower levels. Theses two levels and the circulation are existing but are not expressed.

My project is to reveal the upper level from the lower and to create a transition perceptible from the street.

Contrast between a bright hanged cube and dark thick layer supported by a post framework. Only stairs and lift are extended and connected to the ground.

By night, from the street, the "skin" formed by a metal canvas hanged in the patio highlight it as a volume of diused light.

On the terrace, the distribution pod is discreet (2,26 m height) to preserve the overview.
