There are certain rules and behaviors that help make our environment safe for everyone. These rules and behaviors help us focus on learning.

Dress Code

This is all in your school planner.

Students must wear:

• Collared short, turtle neck, or official school spirit shirts purchased from the school. Logo’s/graphics on shirts other than school spirit shirts may be no larger than pocket sized. You may not alter a school spirit shirt. Shirts may be no longer than your mid hips. You must tuck in shirts that are longer than the inseam of your pants.

• Dresses, shorts, skirts, or skirt slits at KNEE LENGTH or below. Touch your knee bone (patella). That is KNEE LENGTH.

Dress Code-

• Pants, shorts, skirts must be worn above the HIP BONE. Your pants MAY NOT SAG.

• Shoes, tennis shoes, or sandals WITH a strap, or boots.

Students must not wear:

• House slippers in any form or clothing that is pajama type in nature.

• Anything that exposes the undergarments or is see-through (sheer) in nature, or is tight and revealing.

• Anything that has holes, tears, shredding or frays of any kind.

• Clothing, accessories, bandannas, jewelry or flags associated with gangs, or referencing drugs, tobacco, alcohol, weapons, violence, or sex. The only acceptable flag is the United States Flag (Stars and Stripes).

• Accessories that create a safety concern (wallet chains, studded necklaces, wrist bands, rings, hair picks or large metal combs).

Students must not wear:

• T-shirts, tank tops, halter tops, over collared shirts. Long shirts that go past the mid-hip bone.

• Leggings, jeggings, yoga pants, athletic shorts/pants, board shorts, sweat pants, including Nike or Addidas-style sweat paints and “joggers.”

• Hoodies may be worn, but must be size-appropriate and may not extend past the hips.

• Hats of any type.

• Flip-flops or backless shoes.

Dress Code

• The school’s administration/designee shall be the final just of wearing apparel/accessories and will determine whether or not such items are appropriate, disruptive, offensive, distracting, or in violation of health and safety rules.

How Students Enter school 9:20 – 9:40

• Why is this important: We do this to keep the morning safe, orderly and sets the tone

• What is the rule: All students are dismissed from the bus at 9:20 and can go to class or the cafeteria immediately at 9:20. Once you are in class, you stay in class. If you eat breakfast in the cafeteria, you may eat and then be dismissed to go to class immediately afterward.

environment, and to move quickly and efficiently; it is important to protect instructional time.

Topic: NO Candy, Snacks and TreatsWhy is this important?

• It keeps the school culture clean• Safety issues-example choking on the candy, eating something dangerous.• Creates insects• There is no food, gum or candy allowed in the hallways or classrooms.• Teachers may offer candy incentives to a class as a special reward. The candy must

be consumed inside the class and all wrappers thrown in the garbage can.

Topic: Water BottlesWhy is this important?

So the students will not spill drinks on the floor and cause someone to fall.

Inappropriate drinks can be in the bottles, causing illness and accidents.

Students will not be able to use them to hit other students

Students will not will be able to use them to flip them and cause classroom

disruptions.

Rule:

There are no water bottles allowed in class.

All water bottles for lunch need to stay in your backpack until lunch.

No asking to fill a water bottle during class.

If your phone is confiscated, it is locked up in the dean’s office and your parent must pick it up from 3:30-4:10.

Bathroom Policy1. Students must ask to use the bathroom.

2. You must provide your planner to the teacher to sign.

3. You place your planner by the sign-in/sign-out sheet.

4. Sign out.

5. Take the teacher’s hall pass.

6. You may not take your cell phone.

7. Be gone less than five minutes.

8. If there is someone in the bathroom, and someone waiting outside the door of the bathroom, go back to class and let the teacher know you need to try again in a minute.

9. Sign back into class and take your planner.

Dismissal Policy

• 1. This rule is necessary to maintain student safety and provide for an orderly dismissal at the close of the school day.

• 2. All 7th hour teachers will identify walkers, bus riders or parent pick-ups at the beginning of the school year. Teachers will explain the rules during their beginning of the year procedures. Walkers and pick-ups will be dismissed over the intercom. Teachers will hold students in their classrooms until their buses are called. As buses are called, students should be quietly doing homework or reading in order to maintain a quiet environment. Remaining students will be dismissed at 4:10 p.m. Teachers who have 7th

hour planning should monitor students in the hallway.

• 3. Students who do not follow the dismissal policy may be considered out of area and subject to school disciplinary action.

• 4. Students who adhere to the policy may be rewarded through the PBIS system.

• 5. All Parent Pick ups must be picked up by 4:20. NO LATER.

Planners

• Why do we use planners? They are to keep you organized and allow for communication with you and your family and your teachers.

• All students must use their planner.

• Students will receive grades for maintaining their planners.

• Parents will also be required to sign the student planner weekly by Friday. PBIS Hawk dollars can be issued to students in compliance.

Keeping everyone safe from bullying and harrassment• It is very important that everyone is kind to each other, regardless of

our differences.

• If you see something happening to another student, SAY something to your teacher. You can also ask to speak with a Dean.• 6th Grade: Dean Hibbard

• 8th Grade: Dean Munoz

• There are forms you can fill out in the main office to report a bullying incident. Your parents/guardians can also choose to fill it out for you.
