Delcambre is the home of the annual Shrimp Festival, making it a major Louisiana tourist attraction. This small seaport along Highway 14 is linked to Lake Peigneur on Jefferson Island and the Gulf of Mexico by the Delcambre Canal (Bayou Carlin). Home to the popular Delcambre Seafood & Farmers Market, the 75’ x 150’ pavilion is a wonderful gathering spot for just about any event, from private parties to public functions such as cook-offs, festivals and fishing tournaments. Drop a line in the brackish water of Bayou Carlin (Delcambre Canal) and fish for catfish, redfish, flounder, drum, and croaker for a fee. Three docking piers provide a convenient central point for the public to buy wild-caught shrimp and other seafood.

Held the first Saturday of each month, the Delcambre Seafood & Farmers Market provides a fun and festive venue for Louisiana farmers, fishermen and consumers to connect. Enjoy what’s fresh for the season from area farms and local waters, along with tasting opportunities and recipes, live music, kids activities, and other special events.

Savor the peace and hospitality of Delcambre at the North Pier Marina, a safe harbor from storms with direct access to the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and the Vermilion Bay. As a major hub of the shrimping industry, Delcambre cruisers can walk down to the pier for shrimp, crabs and finfish straight off the boat. Amenities offered include power, water, Wi-Fi, mail, trash services, and transportation to area attractions. Marine services and products, including fuel and ice, are nearby. Residential and transient slips offered for both large and small boats.

The Delcambre Shrimp Festival held every August is home to one of the best five-day festivals in South Louisiana. The festival has gained its popularity by providing a variety of delicious dishes and top-notch entertainment including national recording artists. Enjoy signature shrimp dishes like boiled shrimp, fried shrimp, shrimp sauce piquante, shrimp salad, and many more. Each and every shrimp dish consumed at the festival is prepared by members of the festival association. If you’re not in the mood for shrimp, the festival also offers a variety of other festival foods, cold drinks and water.

The annual Delcambre Main Street Christmas Parade includes Santa Claus, marching bands and dance groups. The Delcambre Christmas Boat Parade sees dozens of boats decked out in holiday lights and decorations cruising down the waterway. Delcambre Direct Seafood program was created to keep local commercial fishing alive and fill the off-season gap with a fresh-frozen product, Vermilion Bay Sweet White Shrimp. Originally a demonstration project with premium hand-peeled jumbo shrimp, the brand was created to show the demand for a gourmet shrimp product that adhered to the highest quality standards in processing. Delcambre Direct provides an online marketplace for consumers to connect directly with local fishermen to purchase fresh, wild-caught seafood.

The immediate success of the locally branded Vermilion Bay Sweet White Shrimp package created a new excitement among fishermen and consumers. The Port of Delcambre-owned brand has quickly expanded to include a “gumbo” shrimp package, black drum and more. They are committed to a superior, sustainable product that also preserves fisheries for generations to come.
