one foot out the door

1
One foot out the door. Billy Lane One foot out the door. As I look back to my Father And the voice of my past. The whir of my future scares me. Leaving with hope I walk off the cliff into my future Praying I land on a cloud. Shutting the door behind me I say goodbye Embarking into the unknown. Is starting with a proverb and effective technique? Who is the speaker in the poem? Is the Speaker happy to leave? Is the point of view in the poem effective? Or could it have been better through the eyes of someone else? Is the structure of the poem productive?

One foot out the door. Billy Lane One foot out the door. As I look back to my Father And the voice of my past. The whir of my future scares me. Leaving with hope I walk off the cliff into my future Praying I land on a cloud. Shutting the door behind me I say goodbye Embarking into the unknown. Is starting with a proverb and effective technique? Who is the speaker in the poem? Is the Speaker happy to leave? Is the point of view in the poem effective? Or could it have been better through the eyes of someone else? Is the structure of the poem productive?
