One Arch, founded in 2012 by Djibraan Hossen, specializes in tropical modern architecture and heritage renovations works. Over just two years, the company has well established itself with a rich portfolio of completed and ongoing projects in Zambia, Ivory Coast, Seychelles and Mauritius. We strive for a unique approach to each project, whether it is the renovation of an existing house or the master plan for a smart city project in Africa.

We operate out of our 150 square metre o�ce in Moka. Our permanent sta� consists of a team of 3 architects, 2 junior architects and 1 professional draghtsman. We also have a contiuous visiting sta� of 1 or 2 junior architects on training from Australian or Malaysian universities. Our sta� has won several international awards and gathered international experience in Australia, Africa, Malaysia, Madagascar and Seychelles.

Sketch up models are part of our daily design process as we believe that each idea must be tested throroughly before being implemented. Sometimes we even explore concepts trough physical 3D printed models.

We have a rich list of completed projects, from private residences to commercial buildings to shop interiors in Bagatelle Mall. We often get commissioned for interiors on our residential projects, as you will see in the portfolio because we explore materials di�erently, questioning their traditional use and laying them as pieces of art in our designs.

Our services

We follow our clients all the way from the concept design stage to detailed construction documentation and thorough site supervision. We also act as local architects on varous projects, ensurigng proper coordination between all consultants.

We have high level quali�cations in the �eld of sustainability and apply the principles to all our projects.We provide detailed speci�cation documentation for all interiors and coordinate with 3D visualisation �rms smoothly as we provide them with fully built 3D models, mood boards and detailed interior drawings.

Project Description

Rockview reveals a fresh blend of exquisite natural and modern elements in the form of 12 delicately crafted villas worthy of a �ve star hotel. Through their large openings and two-storey high ceilings, the residences are exposed to an abundance of natural sunlight and refreshing cross ventilation that inspires the most pleasant eco-friendly indoor environment. One Arch was also commissioned for the interiors. The development also includes a luxury gym and outdoor yoga lounge.

Project Description

Victoria Heights fronts Victoria Avenue, Stanley Avenue and Sir Guy Forget Avenue, sitting right across the future light-rail track in Quatre-Bornes. With internal ventilated light wells, timber sun shades and stone cladding, it o�ers posh apartments with a high-quality tropical modern architecture. One Arch developed the interiors. The brochure was realised by Crealys.

Project Brief

Tthe client wanted to dedicate the ground �oor to retail spaces, the above 5 �oors to modulable o�ce spaces, the sixth �oor for a gym, bar and restaurant and the last two �oors for two penthouses with views over the water course in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Project Description

Skylights �tted on each side of the high volume on the grund �oor allow natural light to penetrate the retail space. the 3 o�ce blocks are staggered above the ground �oor level to make them visible from the main street and to preserve views of the skyline of Abidjan from both penthouses and the restaurant.

Plot size: 29,620 square metresTotal built area: 19,600 square metres

Project Brief

To design 150 apartments comprised of a mixture of one, two and three bed apartments, with leisure, kids parks, jogging track.

Project Description

One Arch exceeded the brief by o�ering 192 apartments, all north-south facing, without direct views onto each other. The apartments are �tted with elevated gardens, vertical green walls, light wells and heat wells for cross ventilation and passive solar architectural design. The architecture uses locally available materials (stone, timber, basalt).

To design 5 luxurious apartments on this freehold land and a lush private garden of 100 m in length on the reserves sitting right between the site and the sea

Project Description

A modern architectural setting maximising views of the ocean with a 1500 square metre landscaped garden. The apartmetns all have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The apartments on the ground level each have a private garden in the 3 m reserve imposed by council.

Project Brief

To design 5 luxurious apartments, each with a direct view of the sea.

Project Description

The approach was to maximise useful space, do something di�erent to what was already present in the neighbourhood. We took inspiration from the steel decks of cruise ships to give the elevations a re�ned look with thin lines.
