VIEW FROM THE CAB

I would like to thank all the people who worked on the presentation and the crab feed. These events are definitely a group effort and could not have been successful without all of your help. Also a special thanks to the people who attended and ate, as we would not have made money without them.“Team Work”.Bob Logan has been working his way around to the various Shrine clubs, giving a “state of our finance’s” report. The bottom line is that we are ap-proximately a $100,000.00 short every year, negative cash flow, and we are looking for some people that may be able to help us with ideas and fund-raising to balance our budget. When Bob calls you and wants to set up a visit please take the time to make an appointment for the event and get your nobles to attend. Our building was built when we had 10,000 members and the idea was your dues would pay for this building. To have a positive cash flow on dues alone we would need an additional 880 new members. As it is we are trying to make up the difference by renting the building out and several years ago we had to hire a full time event coordinator to help us with this goal.Last year was the most successful membership drive we have had, but where are our new nobles? Imperial will put us on a pedestal in July because we made so many new nobles 2013, but we don’t keep track of them. Come the end of the year how many new nobles do we really have? Who were their top line and 2nd line signers and why are they not helping them become ac-tive and join a unit.? We are not following these new members and need to start doing so. This is a problem of not only the Divan, but of all our mem-bers. Maybe we need to get the new nobles to attend a stated meeting and tell us what it would take to get them to participate. Where are they? Where do they go? They should be joining a unit or show up for a parade once in awhile.Aahmes is short one elected Divan member; we have no High Priest and Prophet. We are looking for a few good men to join the elected Divan line. If no one steps forward soon we will be forced by Tampa to elect a past potentate to the line.Who is going to Mexico City for Western Shrine? The more the merrier. Against my better judgment I will be traveling to Mexico for WSA 2014. Please let me know if you are interested in attending, so I can set up dinners and hospitality.

MEMBERSHIPThe Power of ONE

“Only YOU Can Make It Work!”

The 2014 AAHMES Membership Program builds on, and expands the 1-in-3 program begun in 2012. Following is the award criteria for both individuals, and Units & Clubs. As always, the number one incentive will continue to be the preservation of Aahmes Shriners.

Each number below, except for 1, the basic unit of the decimal system, is a “prime number”. A “prime number” is divisible only by 1 and itself. Membership is OUR prime initiative, and all AAHMES Nobles should work toward building OUR bottom line. Each and every Noble of AAHMES is a member of OUR membership team! If we achieve OUR membership goals, WE will be indivisible! Exploit the “Power Of One”. It is up to YOU!

Tips from the Old “ChipShot”, well by the time you get this we will have had our Change of Gavel /Official Visit. I am sure we had a REAL Good Time, if we remember it. I want to thank the many people who helped make the COG a successful event for the unit: my wife Carmen; Terry and Bert Er-landson; Donna and Sam Comstock; Frank and Donna Boots; Denise Du-pree; Ted Melden; Rodney Owens; Neil Andre and everyone who helped set up the party and take it down at the end of the night. Also, thanks to all of you who helped obtain the great raffle priz-es and sold tickets. Thank you to the Cross family for the kids entertainment, especially Sandy. Great Job. Carmen and I also attended the Fresno Clowns Bash/Change of Gavel and had a great time. They moved it to a new place and had rooms for $65 at the Marriott. Good friends, great music and food. You all missed a fun event and Bryan was his usually crazy self. (PS, I stole their trophy) We will be getting together for the Dublin Parade in March and we will be having a great lunch there prepared by the Purveyors. We will have the usual coffee and donuts in the morning. Re-member, we have the Oakdale Parade

PATROLIt is parade time: Dublin is March 15 Oakdate is April 12 Sonora is May 20 Livermore is June 14 Modesto is July 14

The first parade we will be in full fancies, the rest will be summer uniform, unless otherwise noted. March stated meeting on the 19th will be dress uniform. Our Patrol meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of the month. Let me know for or five days before who will be at the dinners. The Purveryors need a count.

on April 12th and the Oakdale Shrine Club is cooking the lunch. We were able to secure the tractor and it was moved to Bob-O’s back yard so we can start the process of converting it to a train engine. I gave Bill Garton a “Certificate of Appreciation” for what he did in reducing the price of the trac-tor. Jeff Zaya was very instrumental in this deal and he purchased new tires for the tractor on his own.

SHRINER NOMAD’S CAR CLUB

We started our year off with a meeting at the Perko’s Diner in Salida 1/3/14 with nine members and our wives. Our next meeting will be at Applebee’s in Liver-more at 5:15pm on the 7th of February. Randy Daniels, our Jr Past President was able to set this up. The 29th of March we will be meet-ing at Peter’s Steak House in Isleton at 1pm. They will have chicken sandwiches, steak sandwiches, prime rib sandwiches, fish sandwiches and a vegetable meal for those that don’t want meat. April we will meet at Michael’s in Modesto. Time and date to come. Our club is growing. Remember, you don’t have to own a custom or classic car or truck to join. Just a love of cars and a good time. I would like to thank Randy Daniels for doing a wonderful job as President for the year 2013. Let’s hope we have another good year and continue to grow.
