On their way ...Christopher Jackson, Principal

You may remember in last weeks Principal’s message I referred to the Dr Seuss book “Oh the Places you’ll go” when talking about our Year 12 students commencing their HSC examinations.Just as they about to finish their secondary education and embark on exciting new endeavours, our pre-school students are also about to embark on their primary education.

Starting school is an exciting and sometimes daunting time for both parents and children. Here at Nemingha Public School we want to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

This week was the first session of our Kinder Orientation program, with 30 eager pre-schoolers leaving their Mums, Dads or Grandparents at the hall and skipping off to Mrs Pearson and Mrs Holcombe for a morning of fun and games.

Students thrive in a secure, nurturing setting in which their talents, abilities, needs and differences are celebrated and valued. This was our aim on Tuesday, and judging by the happy and excited faces that left the school grounds at 12.30, we achieved this aim.

Tuesday was also an excellent opportunity for the staff, parents and support team to talk to our new parents.

Donna Murphy, P&C President, spoke about the support over the past few years the P&C has given to the school, meeting dates for their calendar, our “We Care” committee and future plans and projects.

Renae Mumford outlined the canteen menu, our success with the Healthy Canteen initiative and encouraged new parents to volunteer.

A representative from Tamworth Buslines explained to parents about bus passes and procedures to ensure safe travel to and from school.

Mrs Moss spoke about enrolment, absence procedures, sick bay protocols and all matters relating to administration and finance, before handing out information packs.

Mrs Kemp and Mr McDonald showed a Powerpoint presentation on Best Start, our reward system, timetables and school routines.

The school would like feedback from parents and community members concerning the school’s focus and direction. We invite anyone interested in our school to complete an online survey.

This very short survey is an opportunity for parents and the community to voice ideas, suggestions or advice as to what is happening at the school.

The survey can be completed online by following this link:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6HBF38L

or if you would prefer to complete it on paper, please call at the office for a survey form.

The survey will be open until Friday 9 November and the responses are anonymous.

Mrs Lambert, our School Counsellor, explained her support through educational services and her expertise in this field.

Coralie Moss finished the session with an explanation of the Clothing Pool and was available afterwards to sell uniforms to the parents.

I would like to thank everyone mentioned for taking the time to be a part of the Kinder Orientation session and also to the Mums, Dads and Grandparents who came along to listen.

Our next Kinder Orientation is next Wednesday from 9.30am to 12.30pm, with our final session all day on Friday 9 November, finishing with the Kinder Assembly at 2.15pm (please note the early start for this assembly).
