WBCW trap counts were zero at all our sites this week (Grand Marsh,

Coloma, Plover)

Egg mass counts have also significantly declined this past

week.

Look for larvae in the tassels or feeding on the silks towards the

kernels.

The size of the set that you want changes by variety and can be

influenced by many factors.

For Russets, the ideal set is on the smaller side; somewhere between 3-5

tubers/stem.

Not all fields will reach the maturity of that pictured at left.

In fact, some fields will be nowhere near maturity at the time of vine-kill.

Some may even be too healthy, which jeopardizes the success of vine-kill operations and may lead to poor skin set.
