    149 PARCELS COULD BE AUCTIONED AT COUNTY SALE

    KINGSTON, NY (April 15, 2013) Ten (10) more property owners have paid their outstanding tax liensprior to tomorrows Annual Public Auction of County Lands, to be held at SUNY Ulster. The list of

    foreclosed properties has now decreased 29%, since our first report released April 1, 2013.

    To date, sixty-two (62) parcels have been redeemed, removed or reduced for $1,280,783, thus leaving 149of the original 211 parcels up for auction totaling $2,400,412 in unpaid taxes. The Towns of Saugerties andUlster lead the foreclosed parcels list with 27 and 22 properties, respectively. Since Friday ten (10) parcelshave been redeemed from the foreclosure list including two (2) in the Town of Wawarsing totaling $12,729.However, the redemptions have still kept the Town trailing closely behind the Towns Saugerties and Ulsterwith 18 parcels still in foreclosure.

    Also included in the ten (10) redemptions were two (2) parcels in Hurley (totaling $13,730); one (1) parcelin Rosendale ($13,362); one (1) parcel in Shandaken ($2,888); one (1) parcel in Shawangunk ($60,512);and three (3) parcels in Woodstock (totaling $36,341).

    Still up for auction are five (5) of the six (6) original parcels that had been deemeduncollectable/hazardous accounts. These parcels are located in the Towns of Plattekill, Saugerties,Shawangunk, and Wawarsing and total $817,620 in unpaid taxes. These properties are renderedunsalable due to the environmental issues associated with them and it is unknown if these properties willever sell. The sixth parcel that was deemed hazardous, located in the Village of Ellenville, with $359,872 inoutstanding taxes, has been removed from the auction list by the Environment Protection Agency due tocontinued remediation of the hazardous site.

    This years auction list includes eighteen (18) Towns of the twenty (20) Towns and two (2) of the three (3)Villages located in Ulster County with 141 parcels and 8 parcels respectively, with unpaid taxesoutstanding for three or more years which total $2,400,412, up 4% from 2012.

    At the 2012 Auction, seventy (70) properties were sold, auctioned and requisitioned and one (1) propertywas sold in a private sale, leaving $1,073,895 still with unpaid taxes owed to Ulster County. Will the 2013Public Auction of County Lands recapture the $2,400,412 still outstanding?
