AFRAID?WHY are you

What do you fear will happen?

2 MOST COMMON ANSWERS:

“I hate the sound of my voice.”

}

“I look funny.”

Why you hate your voice on cam

-The voice you hear on cam, is your REAL voice. -Your voice resonates through your bones/inner ear and sounds lower to you, than everyone else.

Are you stuck? You decide.

Voice Tips

- What you drink matters- Practice low hums- Slow Down: faster = higher- Silence is powerful

Why you don’t like your look

-Mirror images are what we are used to -Our standards are too high -Your camera angles are wrong -Your lighting is off -You are worrying too much about your competition

You are in the same boat with:

(they hate how they look on cam)

NOT BEING GENUINE The only thing you should fear is:

People have a high tolerance for nerves, not bullshit.

Case Study: CELARITY

Case Study: CELARITY

TIPS!Time for

1.KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE

NOT EVERYONE WILL LIKE YOU

@meeterica

2.CAMERA POSITION

1. Your camera position reflects how you view your audience. 2. Slightly above eye level = most flattering. 3. Look at the LENS, not yourself - it’s distracting.

3.FLATTERING LIGHT

1. feel light on your face 2. no “interrogation” interviews 3. window = big light source

4. HD powder - don’t look sweaty!

4.PROMPTS (TELL STORIES - DON’T RECITE)

1. Piece of paper with main ideas. 2. Prompts on your screen. 3. State your intention at the beginning of the video.

5.FRAMING

1. more visually appealing 2. allows the eye to relax 3. leaves space for potential text

TIP: rule of thirds

6.WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

1. whatever makes you FEEL GOOD 2. don’t wear things you need to tug on

3. avoid tight patterns/stripes 4. think: classic and timeless - content lasts longer

1. If readers are already coming to you for content, they will enjoy putting a name with a face. 2. Do you like to TALK about your topic? BINGO. 3. You may FEEL like an imposter, and that’s OK.

OWN YOUR EXPERTISE 7.

TEST. TRY. AGAIN. 8.Innovation and consistency wins.
