Dear students of South Seattle Community College,

On behalf of the United Student Association, and South as a whole, I welcome you. Whatever your educational program or interests may be, South has an amazing array of agencies and services designed to ensure your success. The faculty and staff at South are truly excellent and the education you receive here will serve you well all your life. At South, you will experience one of the most diverse campuses in the nation, bringing you face to face with people from around the world. Learning alongside persons of global origin is truly a remarkable and unique experience. As our cultures continue to intertwine, we need very much the thoughtful and considerate exposure to other cultures that South provides.

The United Student Association is the representative student body at South and is dedicated to the academic and personal success of students. We are responsible to carry the concerns and interests of students to campus administrators, and ensure that student voices remain a vital part of campus life. Additionally, we sponsor a great many of the programs and activities geared toward your academic achievement and personal enrichment. There are so many ways to be involved in your education besides attending class; I encourage everyone to stop by the Student Life office and pickup a newsletter, or talk to a member of student government. Find out about your campus and your community, become involved in your own education, seek out new ideas and people, and help maintain a community of respect and dignity at South.
