Mixed Doubles Bracket


Tennis has been a sanctioned ASAA sport in Alaska since 1974. Only the Anchorage School District schools were playing at that time (Dimond, Service, Bartlett, West, EastandChugiak).Later,Fairbanks,Valley,andJuneauaddedteams.

This year, there are schools in four regions of the state that have tennis programs which is one of the criteria for ASAA to host a state tournament.

In the fall of 2006, a meeting of tennis coordinators from around the state was held and it was at that meeting that the preliminary plans were made to submit a proposal for a state tournament to the ASAA board of directors at the Winter meeting. Then at the 2006 Spring meeting in Fairbanks, the board agreed to the bylaws that would permit a state tournament for Tennis.

Credit should be given to these dedicated individuals who were instrumental in the planning and presenting stages which resulted in a first ever State Tennis Tournament in Alaska:

Bill Cotton, Anchorage Gwen Ramras, Fairbanks Amy Skilbred, Juneau Craig Johnson, Kodiak Alan Clendaniel, Anchorage Matt Hemry, Anchorage Dave Reeves, Anchorage

This is the third state championships which is being held at the Alaska Clubs North and East. Alaska Club is a year round sponsor of ASAA State Championships. And USTA has also partnered with ASAA to help sponsor this prestigeous event by pro-viding a traveling trophy to the winning team and a coaching clinic and social hour for all participants.
