The Antinori Family has been involved in the production of wine for over six centuries since 1385 when Giovanni di Piero Antinori entered as a member of the “Arte Fiorentina,” the Winemakers’ Guild of the City of Florence. During this entire period of 26 generations the family has always directly managed this production with courageous and, at times, innovative decisions, but always maintaining, unaltered, a fundamental respect for tradition and for the territory in which they have operated. The legacy of these 26 generations have been carried on by Piero Antinori and now his three daughters Allegra, Albiera, and Alessia. Alessia Antinori joins us for a legendary tasting of eight vintages of Solaia. From the sunniest part of the Tignanello Hill and from the best grapes grown in their best vineyard, Solaia is a wine of passion, care, attention and research. From its first vintage in 1978, Solaia has been a blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and other varietals such as Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese. The wine is only produced in the highest quality vintages. Talented sommelier and winemaker Larry Stone of Lingua Franca and Mark Bright, wine director and Partner of Michelin 3-star Saison in San Francisco moderate this panel tasting. Wines to be tasted will include: 2013, 2009, 2006, 2004, 1999, 1998, and 1997 in magnum from the Family’s private cellar in Italy.
*All wines for each GourmetFest tasting come directly from the wine estate’s cellars.

The Hill of Hermitage with Jean-Louis Chave of Domaine JL Chave and Sommeliers Larry Stone and Raj Parr.
The Hill of Hermitage, a place of wine pilgrimage and the birthplace of Syrah. Few appellations with such incredible terroir can draw this much emotion as the Hill of Hermitage, which sits behind the town of Tain l’Hermitage in France’s Northern Rhône Region. Its tiny size of only 300 acres makes this magical site quite rare. There are seven Crus as part of the red grape vineyards of Hermitage and Domaine JL Chave owns a part of all seven. Since 1481, the Chave’s have reigned supreme over this site and have made some of the most memorable wines in Hermitage history. Please join us in a rare tasting of Hermitage with Jean-Louis Chave, the 27th generation of Chave winemakers from this famed estate. Wines will include: Hermitage Blanc 2015, 2009, 1998, a surprise new release from Domaine JL Chave followed by Hermitage Rouge 2015, 2010, 2005, 1991, and the extremely rare 1969.
