Death of a Dream

The dream of affordable internet in the D.C. metro area is officially dead. The start-up Intervalue Internet, which promised to deliver faster internet at half the price, was absorbed by the traditional power Omnibus Communications. Cities all over the nation we watching to see if Intervalue Internet would be able to disrupt the internet service market. However, even with a $4.5 Billion dollar initial investment it appears that the infrastructure was too high of a barrier for entry, and that the telecommunications industry will continue to be dominated by a small handful of large firms.
