Key Priorities

• To provide the highest possible standards of education facilities

• To explore opportunities for collaboration and partnering of

schools whilst ensuring they retain their individual identity and

ethos on a shared site

• To maintain governance autonomy for each school within an

overall shared campus

About the scheme

• The Lisanelly Shared Educational Campus is a vitally important

project for the post-primary education provision in the Omagh area

• The scheme offers the potential for up to six post-primary schools

in Omagh to relocate to the former military barracks owned site

• It presents a unique opportunity to create a state-of-the-art, shared

educational campus in a mature parkland setting

•If outline planning permission for the scheme is secured by

December 2011, subject to receipt of funding from the Department of

Education, it is hoped that the schools could begin to open in 2015.

• Enables schools to meet the targets of the new Entitlement Framework which

requires access to a wide range of subject areas by September 2013

• New state-of-the-art facilities for all areas of education

•Opportunities for collaboration between schools whilst retaining their

individual identity and ethos on a shared site

•Creating infrastructure which can cope with changes in curriculum and pupil

intake numbers

•Opportunity to promote inclusion and enhance community relations

•By sharing, schools will be able to access facilities not deliverable on an

individual basis

Key Economic Benefits

• £100million plus investment into local economy creating employment and

opportunities for local businesses

• Provides effective utilisation of a now vacant site for the benefit of Omagh

• Allows the regeneration of the existing school sites in Omagh creating new

economic development opportunities

•Ensures the efficient organisation and use of schools transport on one site

offering to improve traffic management and road safety in the town

It may be appropriate to limit the extent of sharing across early Key Stage (KS) years

in preference for greater levels of shared learning at KS 4 & 5

some of the shared facilities on the

campus may be used by the local

community outside of school hours

Would you support these facilities

being made available to the local

community?
