Olympus Care Services offers short residential breaks for adults with disabilities aged between 16 and 65 years of age.

A short break is a positive opportunity to make new friends, try new things and, in some circumstances, start to prepare for greater independence.

Short breaks also provide carers and family members with time for themselves and respite from caring.

Olympus Care Services is able to offer several different short break options to suit individual preferences. If however you would like to try something else, please talk to us and we will see how we can support you.

Breaks Closer To HomeWe can support Younger adults from across Northamptonshire in either Pine Lodge in Corby or Eleanor Lodge in Northampton.

Both offer welcoming and practical accommodation where customers are encouraged to be as independent as possible whilst enjoying a supportive, friendly environment where they can form new friendships and try out new things.

All bedrooms are single rooms with fully accessible communal bathrooms and shared lounge and kitchen areas for residents to prepare snacks and refreshments. Customers are welcome to bring their own personal belongings to make themselves feel at home.

Caravan Holiday In SkegnessCustomers may choose to stay at home, enjoy the local community or travel a little further to the seaside and stay in our specially adapted caravan in Skegness.

A Welcoming Family EnvironmentWe can also organise short breaks through our Shared Lives scheme where customers are welcomed into home environments and live alongside other members of a family. Our Shared Lives carers are fully assessed, approved and trained to deliver focused support to customers; this support is monitored by our Shared Lives officers.

Yurts In NorthamptonshireFor people who would like to try something a little different, we also organise overnight stays in the Yurt village at Grendon Hall in Northamptonshire between May and October. These comfortable, circular, tent-link dwellings provide a very special and inspiring place to spend a relaxing break. Our customers can also choose to take part in some fun outdoor pursuits during their stay, such as orienteering, archery, and much more.

Each of our Short Breaks options accommodate a small number of people at any one time to ensure that all our customers receive a very high level of quality care.

During a short break in either Eleanor Lodge or Pine Lodge, our professional carers will gently encourage residents to participate in some of the many in-house and community based activities.

All our short break accommodation is non-smoking, however, customers may choose to smoke in the designated areas outside.

BreAkS in nOrtHAmptOn And COrBY

Eleanor Lodge, NorthamptonEleanor Lodge is a modern and welcoming residential home offering short-term accommodation to adults aged between 16 and 65 with a learning disability.

Located in a residential area, with good access to local amenities and public transport, Eleanor Lodge was recently refurbished and received the OCS Home of the Year Award 2013 for its high quality services and accommodation.

Up to 18 customers, accommodated in four different flatlets, can stay at Eleanor Lodge for planned short breaks, respite care or reablement where they will be supported to develop daily living skills.

5Pine Lodge, CorbyPine Lodge provides short breaks for younger adults with learning disabilities and physical disabilities. This recently refurbished home has facilities to support people who need intensive support and has the equipment to meet their personal care needs.

Customers enjoy modern, comfortable accommodation with well-equipped communal kitchens, lounges and bathrooms where they are encouraged to carry out everyday tasks for themselves.

Pine Lodge is located in the heart of the Danesholme estate near the community centre, church, library, local newsagent and post office.

Other local amenities include a supermarket, hairdresser and various food outlets. All are located within 100 yards of Pine Lodge and are easily accessible via sloped kerbs. Corby also has a well-developed wheelchair accessible taxi and bus service, should customers wish to travel further afield.

Ben’s Story - Ben is in his 20’s and had never had a break away from home

until he was referred to Eleanor Lodge. Ben wanted to mix with people his own

age and take part in activities, while his parents were hoping to enjoy some

time together.

A member of the Olympus team went to visit Ben and his parents so they could

understand the sort of support he would need. Afterwards, he came to stay at

Eleanor Lodge for a week where he took part in a range of activities, like going to

a local disco and playing pool. He was also supported to develop independent living

skills like cooking, laundry and general household tasks. Ben had a wonderful stay at

Eleanor Lodge and went home with new friends and plans to book another week away.

Fully Supported BreaksThe caravan has been designed to create full access to customers in wheelchairs and there is room for a mobile hoist to be used.

One or two members of our professional and fully trained staff will support customers at the caravan throughout their stay.

Meals will be provided, however customers will be required to bring their own towels, toiletries and spending money.

Richmond Park Holiday Centre, SkegnessOlympus Care Services is proud to offer our customers the opportunity to have their short break in our new, specially adapted, caravan in Skegness.

Our six berth caravan is located on the award winning Richmond Park Holiday Centre, just a short walk from Skegness town centre.

Set in 50 acres, Richmond Park offers onsite bars, restaurants, Sky TV and free WiFi access as well as a full family entertainment programme seven nights per week during peak season. There is also a convenient fish and chip shop, supermarket, hair salon, newsagent and off licence.

Customers can also enjoy the indoor swimming pool, which is fully accessible with a hoist, as well as a sauna and spa bath.

Bookings for our short breaks are flexible, however, it is advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment. On some occasions we are able to support short notice bookings as cancellations do arise.

Customers who use our service pay for their short break either through an individual budget or through a means tested contribution.

Following a short break enquiry, a member of Olympus Care Services’ short breaks team will contact the enquirer for further information about the customer’s needs, medication and short break requirements. We will also confirm emergency contact information.
