Presidents Note
Welcome to 2021 lets hope we become Covid free this year I have attached acouple of photos to the newsletter One is the swearing in of our officers for2021 The other is of an afghan crocheted by NARFE member Jean Bell withassistance from Linda Kirkland pictured in the photo The afghan as you cansee is of the American flag and is a real work of art We wanted to find adeserving veteran to present it to The recipient was Karin Miller pictured in thephoto I was introduced to Karin by a friend of mine who works for the VeteranrsquosCenter in Sarasota The center provides counseling for veterans experiencingvarious service-related issues Karin is a veteran who served two deploymentsis the single mother of two teenagers and is a registered nurse who works forthe VA in St Petersburg At the presentation she shared her life story with usand we feel we couldnrsquot have made a better selection of a vet to receive theafghan Thank you for your service Karin
As we move into a new year we are confronted with our ongoing problem of ashrinking membership We are doing our best to continue to hold the grouptogether but really need your help If you know of any active or retired federalworkers please introduce them to NARFE and talk up the benefits
