I Olof P. Norlander on his 60th Birthdav I / January 23,1985 The editorial board has dedicated this issue of “Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica” to its editor-in-chief since 1972, Olof P. Norlander. It is composed of articles written by his co-workers, pupils and colleagues from all over Scandinavia, who would like to honour one of the leaders of Nordic anaesthesiology. The acceptance of manuscripts was according to the normal procedures, the final decision being the chief editor’s. Only the selection amongst the large number of accepted papers was by the co-editors. “Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica” has grown to its present size and standing groomed by only two chief editors: Eric Nilsson started the work and led it for 15 years; Olof Norlander has now begun to publish his 14th volume. In their hands, the journal has developed into a well- established interhational forum for Scandinavian scientists within the fields of anaesthesia and intensive care. Editing a large journal as well as holding a full-time job as professor and chairman of a department of anaesthesiology is a tremendous task. Olof Norlander has done this with great success.
