Achievable ReformWho is Oliver?

Oliver Golden is my name and I am seeking to represent you on the Fianna Fil Ard

Chomhairle. I am a proud Sligo man, hailing from Doonmadden, Templeboy.

I am 37 years of age and I am a farmer. I have been a member of Fianna Fil since the age of

17. I have served as Chairperson of Templeboy Cumann and more recently chairperson of

Dromore West CC for the last 4 years.

I am actively involved in my local community especially in the areas of education and sport.

Why am I standing?

I got involved in politics because I wanted to make a difference. I am a member of Fianna

Fil because it is the party that stands up for ordinary people and protects the most

vulnerable. Ours is the party that unites small farmers, urban workers and professional

classes.

It is clear, however, that politics is not working. People feel apathetic towards, and

disengaged with the political process. This is true in our own party.

For too long the Ard Chomhairle has been viewed as aloof and not representative of ordinary

Fianna Fil members. This body has taken decisions in isolation without adequate

communication with the membership of the party.

What are my priorities?

Reduce the Ard Chomhairle by 10% Improve communication between the members and Ard Chomhairle. I propose that a

copy of the agenda and minutes of Ard Chomhairle meetings be sent to every

member.

Increased Transparency and Accountability. Reports from Ard Chomhairle should becirculated to the membership via email and where necessary via hard copy.

What is the Ard Chomhairle?

The senior unit within Fianna Fil is the Ard Chomhairle (National Executive) It meets every

month and is responsible for dealing with all matters not provided for in the Cor. When the

Ard Fheis is not in session the Ard Chomhairle is the supreme governing body of the Party.

The Ard Chomhairle consists of a representative from every CDC (48 people) as well as 5

Councillor Representatives, 5 Parliamentary Party members, 3 front bench representatives, 6

gra representative and group known as the committee of 20 which is elected at the Ard

Fheis.

The officers of the Ard Chomhairle are An Uachtarn Fhianna Fil (President of Fianna Fil

Michel Martin TD), 5 Vice Presidents, 2 Honorary Secretaries, and 2 Honorary Treasurers.

Why Vote for Oliver Golden

If you elect me I will fight to get your voice heard. I wont stay silent. I like thousands of you

around the country am just an ordinary member. Except we are not ordinary members. We

are the backbone and lifeblood of this great party.
