'Dress Suit' Js^Rentner's Top Fashion
By DOROTHY ROE Associated Press Women's Editor
N E W YORK, Jan. 18 <AP)~De-lcr Maurice Rentnex_Asiv _
the "dress suit" as the top women' fashion for this year's Easter parade.
The "dress suit" is his term for softly feminine suits. Many have low, open draped neckline*, others feature his "turban drape1', swathing the fitted midriff. AIL are dressy enough for cocktail wear and each Is trimmed with a rosebud, sometimes worn front and center on a commerbund. sometimes at the neckline, sometimes *at the back.
Feminine Touches One notable suit in the group is
of lightweight beige wool with cruahed cummerbund midriff and pastel silk shirred lining in the sleeves, to add to the delicate feminine look.
His "turban drape" appears on both suits and dresses. On example Is a two-piece cocktail dress of black shantung with a huge sash of white shanting draped about the'hips.
On some dresses he likes necklines cut high in front, low in back. A sprightly "white-collar-girl" dinner dress in black Bilk-has bare shoulders and a starched white little-boy collar acting as a halter. A black rose serves as a necktie.
Other Designers Ben Reig likes short jackets
reaching barely to the waist, and straight, tight skirts slightly shorter than, those of last season. Some of the jackets are fitted, bellhop fashion, while others flare out like lampshades.
Black and white prints are outstanding in his suit collection, and stark white is featured for cocktail and evening dresses. The silhouette is straight and slim for daytime, bouffant for after five.
The high-waisted empire silhouette is tho big thing in Jo Cope-land's spring offerings. Suits have high-riding skirts reaching" to just below the bust. Dresses are moulded, high-waisted, figure-revealing.
