How to Deal with Peer Pressure If someone is trying to pressure you into drinking, smoking, etc. constantly, you should probably cut them out of your life. If they keep pressuring you, then they are a bad influ-ence and not a very good friend. My advise for you is to just stop hanging around them and hang out with the people who support you. It’s not good to have bad people in your life because it will most likely make you a more negative person. And if you keep hanging out with the people that are telling you to do these things, you will eventually give in. Just whatever you do, don’t give into it, no matter how much they pressure you.

ThanksgivingThanksgiving By Emily Miller
Thanksgiving is a celebration that is on November 23rd of this year. Thanksgiving occurs every fourth Thursday in November. Thanksgiving was started by the pilgrims and Native
Americans when they harvested lots of food, and it lasted for three days. A lot of people have traditions every year on Thanksgiving. Before Thanksgiving some people like to put up deco-
rations with pilgrims, baskets, fruit, and more and have their kids make turkeys with finger paint. A lot of people like to eat food like turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, casse-
roles, bread, stuffing, corn, cranberry sauce and more for Thanksgiving dinner. What are your Thanksgiving traditions?

The Best in the U.S. By Raelee Tate-Wyatt
The best U.S. Cities to travel to in the fall are Denver, Colorado, Nashville, Tennessee, Portland, Maine, New York, New York, Santa Barbara, California, Louisville, Kentucky, Salt Lake City, Utah, New Orleans, Louisiana, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Boston Massachusetts because they are the best and most beautiful places in the U.S. during the fall.
In Denver you are able to go on the Cherry Creek Bike Trail or the High Line Canal, and see the beautiful colors of the trees. Tennessee is known as Music City. It lives up to that name because it hosts the Independent Music Festival and the Americana Festival during the fall.
To see the best local Foliage, hike up Bradbury Mountain, just outside of town, or pedal around using the bike-share program Zangster. After all that exercise, you could go to a restaurant in this lobster-filled city, in Portland, Maine. There are many beautiful places to travel to in the U.S., but these happen to be the top places.

A Little About Our Teachers/Staff...
By Katie Webster
As most of you know, the principal at Oktaha is Mr. Burt. He has been at Oktaha for 26 years, but he has been a
principal for 14 years. He said “the best part about being a principal is being around students.” The worst part about being
a principal is long hours and long time away from home. When asked if he liked being principal, he said he enjoys it. He was
inspired to go into this profession though his coaches, and teachers. I asked him how much longer do you plan on being a
principal at Oktaha, and he said another 5 or 6 years. When asked what would you like to tell the students at Oktaha, he
said, “ enjoy high school as much as you can.”
Mrs. Glover is a 7th and 8th grade teacher. When I interviewed her she said she has been a teacher for 24 years.
When asked why did you become a teacher, she said, “ I had already gone to college for two years in Business Administra-
tion, and my boss at the time told me I should go into education because she thought I worked well with children, so I lis-
tened to her and changed my major to Elementary Education.” When asked about her strengths as a teacher, she said, “ I
could be wrong, but I feel having the right discipline in life and with my students helps me to do my job effectively. I also
hope that fairness is a strength of mine, for I try to treat all my students with fairness and respect.” Her favorite subject
to teach is Jr. High English. She said her favorite students to teach are “Jr. High students [because they] are so interesting to be around. They are honest—sometimes too
honest—and still eager to listen and learn.” I asked her who influenced her to become a teacher, and she said, ”No one really influenced me. They just made a suggestion,
and I took them up on their suggestion.” She said the best part of her job—“besides the everyday teaching that [she] likes,”— is the “set holidays every year. It makes life
GREAT.”

Homemade Apple & Pumpkin Spice Lotion Recipe © Rebecca’s Soap Delicatessen
Ingredients:
1. 9 oz. 76° melt point coconut oil, refined . 25 oz. cocoa butter, refined . 25 oz. beeswax . 25 oz. stearic acid . 75 oz. grape seed oil . 75 oz. rosehip seed oil . 35 oz. shea butter, refined . 05 oz. Phenonip 10 drops vitamin E 25 drops cinnamon essential oil 5 drops clove essential oil 10 drops ginger essential oil . 15 oz. Nature’s Garden Crisp & Candied fragrance oil . 25 oz. Cyclomethicone . 8 oz. aloe vera gel . 5 oz. distilled water . 1 oz. pure Madagascar bourbon vanilla extract
Instructions:
To create this apple and pumpkin spice lotion you’ll need to begin by weighing out the cocoa butter, beeswax, shea butter, stearic acid and coconut oil with a digital scale. Combine in a double boiler and heat until melted through then weigh out and add the rosehip seed and grapeseed oils. Mix to combine then remove from heat.
Check the temperature of the melted ingredients and when they reach between 140°- 155°F weigh out and add the Phenonip which you’ll need to prevent the growth of mold, bacteria and fungus. This is a necessary preservative as this lotion recipe contains water. ( You can substitute the Phenonip with Optiphen, which is paraben free, but you’ll need to add it at around 120°F. ) Mix into the lotion base. Now weigh out and add the fragrance oil, essential oils and vitamin E and stir to combine.
Once the oils start to thicken to and turn a creamy color weigh out and add the Cyclomethicone, distilled water, aloe vera gel and vanilla extract. Whisk until thoroughly combined then pour into your container or containers of choice. Yields approximately 6 oz. How to French Braid Your Hair Step by Step Instructions By Kilee Holder
I have long hair, and have been French braiding my hair for a long time. The interesting thing is, that I can French Braid
my own hair by myself, but if you ask me to French Braid someone else's hair I can't do it.
1. Start by taking a section from the top of the head. Separate this section into 3 strands crossing right over middle and then left over middle, as if you were doing a Basic Braid.
2. Switch all of the strands over to your left hand and keep strands sepa-rated.
3. You can now gather a small even section from the right side of the head with your right hand and add it to the right strand.
4. Bring the strand you have just added to, over to the middle and bring the middle strand to the right.
5. Now switch hands keeping all strands separate, so your left hand will be free.
6. Gather a section of hair from the left side of the head. Add this to the left strand.
7. You will now bring the left strand over to the middle and bring the middle section to the left. As you follow these steps, try to keep your hands close to the head so the braid will be tight.
8. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until there is no hair available to add. Finish style with a Basic Braid and fasten with an elastic.
See, that was easy... right?
