ROBERT AND SUSAN WRIGHT 7..........I...........................................................................
April 30, 2002
Dear Dr. William D. Travers,
We are writing this letter to you the Executive Director for Operations, United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission in response to a visit received from a member of the Ohio Citizen Action
organization.
It is the goal of the Ohio Citizen Action group to keep the David Besse Plant in Marblehead, Ohio
shut down permanently. It is also our desire to maintain the safety of our neighborhood. A neighborhood free of nuclear waste, free from nuclear leaks, and free of prime targets for terrorists.
We currently live approximately an hour from Davis Besse and work 30 minutes away. The Plant has served it's time and place. It is now time to let it rest. A combination of power from the competitive market and energy efficiency measures can easily meet power needs.
The only way to guarantee Northern Ohio's safety is to shut the plant down permanently.
Sincerely,
Robert and Susan Wright

Dr. William D. Travers Executive Director For Operations United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555-0001
Dear Dr. Travers:
This letter is in response to the news regarding the hole in the
nuclear energy reactor at the Davis Besse plant. I find it difficult
to understand how this problem went undetected for so long. Could it
be that the powers that be, knew of the problem yet failed to inform
the public until we HAD to be told? Does anybody at First Energy have
the interest and well-being of the people who live here and work here
at heart? I think not. As long as we pay our monthly bill they're happy.
For the sake of all of us, I would ask that you shut the Davis Besse
permanently. Our family would love to live closer to Port Clinton and
the Lake Erie Vacation area, but we are afraid of being any closer to
Davis Besse than we already are.
Please take this letter under serious consideration and give me the courtesy of an immediate reply.
My thanks to Marcy Kaptur for calling this problem to our attention, since nobody else did..
Sincerely,
-
