Greetings, All! I hope the beginning of your
semester is off to a great start! As you will see in
this newsletter, there are several wonderful
opportunities for professional development
coming in the month of September: an Orff
workshop, a Kodaly workshop, and of course,
our very own Collegiate NAfME meeting. We
hope to see all of you on Tuesday, September 17,
at 6 pm in Room 123.
I am also pleased to announce the arrival of
our new Music Education GTA, Sebastian
Rodriguez. He is already hard at work on your
behalf. Please make him feel welcome!

Sebastian G. Rodriguez is a tuba
performance major, graduated from
Texas A&M University in Corpus
Christi, Texas (2019). He studied with
Dr. Dan T. Sipes. Sebastian has enjoyed
attending the Laredo Music Festival and
the Nuevo Mundo Festival & Academy,
held in Aruba. He has been honored to
play for Raul Rodriguez, Charles
Villarrubia, David Kirk, and Sergio
Carolino. He looks forward to
graduating from OSU with studies in
tuba performance.
This semester we are very excited to
promote professional development and
further our passion for music education
with our Fall 2019 NAfME meetings!
These meetings are scheduled for
September 17th, October 22nd,
November 19th, and December 10th. All
meetings will be at 6 pm at room 123,
SCPA.
We are covering relevant topics such
as resume and career development,
world drumming, how to build a
parent/booster organization, and finally
ending with our holiday "study break" in
December.

Oklahoma ORFF chapter
Fall workshop Putting it All Together with a
Story
Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, 9:00 AM- 1:00 PM
Using a folk tale as a starting point, participants
will see how simple pieces of music might be developed
to become a stage performance. Musical examples will
span grades 1-5.
Paul Cribari is an Orff Schulwerk teacher in the
Cherry Creek School District in Colorado. Paul
received his Masters of Arts in Orff Schulwerk from
the University of St. Thomas, and his Doctorate in
Music Education form Boston University.

Tanya LeJeune lives in Denver, Colorado and is in her
twenty-fourth year of teaching music. She currently
teaches K–5th grade general music at Jefferson County
Public Schools, and Kodály Level I courses at the
Colorado Kodály Institute at Colorado State University.
