EMERGING ENERGY LEADERSAs an emerging leader, you are transitioning from an individual contributor to a managerial role with more responsibility. This is a challenging career step. New managers are eager to face these challenges and this Certificate Program, offered August-October 2020, will help you reflect on the leadership style that works best for you, your team, and your organization.
As you develop a better understanding of yourself, you will also learn how others perceive you. In these challenging economic times, it is important for you to gain an understanding of leadership, change management, and decision making, which will be a key focus of one of the emerging leaders sessions. The program concludes with organizational development and integrating elements to help you contribute to the success of your organization which includes critical thinking and business analytics.

Digital Badge As a participant of this program, you will also be eligible to receive a Digital Badge. Program completion is required in order to receive the OSU Emerging Energy Leaders Digital Badge that can be added to your portfolio. The badge will note the sessions covered and will serve as a validation of accomplishments, skills, and quality you have learned throughout this program.
LocationThis program is open to the public and all sessions will be hosted at the location of Explorer Pipeline 6120 S. Yale Avenue, Tulsa, Okla.
Registration Fee and Materials$2,550 per person or $2,350 per person if 3 or more participants register from the same company. Fee includes assessments, case studies, instruction, materials, refreshments and lunch each day.

AttendanceThe daily schedule will be 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
CertificateParticipants will earn an Emerging Energy Leader Certificate after completion of the 9 sessions (over a six-day timeframe). This certificate is worth up to 43.2 CPE credits and 3.6 CEU’s.

MAC MCCRORY, ED.D., spent 30 years at Oklahoma State University building and directing the nation’s first wellness center, focusing the center’s programs on quality customer service. He is former Vice President for Business and Industry Relations at Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City. Dr. McCrory is an Adjunct
Instructor for the Department of Management in the Spears School of Business. He is a certified trainer by the National Multicultural Institute in Washington D.C. and is also certified as a True Colors ™ facilitator.
DR. RAJ BASU helps managers become leaders and achieve optimal performance from employees. Dr. Basu is an associate professor of management at Oklahoma State University. He is a member of the Academy of Management and the Southern Management Association, and is also a graduate of Leadership
Oklahoma, Class XVIII. His research has been published in multiple academic journals. Dr. Basu researches and teaches in the areas of leadership, employee performance, team building and change management. He is a four-time recipient of the Jack Allen Award for Teaching Excellence in the MBA program, the Greiner Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching and the Richard Poole Award for Excellence in Outreach. Dr. Basu received his MBA from Duke University and a Ph.D. from Purdue University.
DR. BRYAN EDWARDS is the Associate Director of Research in the Eastin Center for Career Readiness, Joe Synar Chair and Associate Professor of Management in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University, specializing in human resources management and organizational behavior.
Dr. Edwards is an expert in selection, training, performance management, leadership, organizational development, and team effectiveness. Dr. Edwards earned his Ph.D. in I/O Psychology from Texas A&M University and is an active member of Academy of Management, Society for Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology, and the Society for Human Resource Management.
DR. ANDREW URICH is an associate professor of management, Eastin Center Chair and Director of Student Development within the Eastin Center for Talent Development at the Spears School of Business, Oklahoma State University. In addition, he served as a member of the Executive MBA faculty of Zayed
University in Abu Dhabi and Dubai (United Arab Emirates) from 2004 until 2012. Dr. Urich received a law degree from Case Western Reserve University. He taught at OSU-Kyoto, Japan during the 1992-1993 school year and has led more than 23 travel and study abroad classes focusing on the topics of creativity and innovation in business. Dr. Urich is a lecturer, researcher, and consultant in the areas of influence, negotiation, and ethics and is a recipient of the Greiner Outstanding Teacher Award, the University Outreach Faculty Excellence Award and many other teaching awards.
DR. GOUTAM CHAKRABORTY holds the SAS Professorship of Marketing Analytics and Director of M.S. in Business Analytics and Data Science at the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. He has held managerial positions with a subsidiary of Union Carbide, USA, and with a subsidiary
of British American Tobacco, UK. Dr. Chakraborty has presented numerous programs and workshops to executives, educators, and research professionals in the U.S., Europe, Asia, Australia and Middle East. He has published in many scholarly journals such as the Journal of Interactive Marketing, Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Advertising, Journal of Business Research, and Industrial Marketing Management. He coauthored books Text Mining and Analysis: Practical Methods, Examples, and Case Studies Using SAS® and Contemporary Database Marketing: Concepts and Applications. He has chaired several national conferences including the Direct Marketing Educator’s Conference and the M2007 Data Mining Conference. He earned his B. Tech (Honors) in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, PGCGM from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, M.S. in Statistics and a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Iowa.
ABBEY DAVIS is currently the Director of the Eastin Center for Career Readiness and an adjunct instructor in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. Before joining OSU, Abbey worked as a full-time corporate HR professional specializing in the areas of talent development, organizational development,
performance management and compensation. Abbey received her bachelor’s degree in human resources and MBA from OSU. In 2016, Abbey was recognized as an Outstanding Young Alumni for the Spears School of Business.
DR. ALEXIS SMITH WASHINGTON holds the William S. Spears Chair in Business and is an Associate Professor of the Management Department and in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Smith Washington received her doctorate in Organizational Behavior at the Freeman
School of Business of Tulane University and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rice University. Her areas of expertise span workplace issues such as gender and diversity, social identity management, interpersonal influence, as well as bias and discrimination. Currently, Dr. Smith Washington’s research examines the impact of social identities such as gender, race and sexual orientation on the ways individuals manage their professional image at work, as well as organizational factors that facilitate the inclusion and advancement of underrepresented minorities. Dr. Smith Washington’s research has been published in journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology and Research in Organizational Behavior. In line with her research interests, Dr. Smith Washington provides consulting and coaching for managers interested in improving their competencies in areas such as emotional intelligence, diversity & inclusion, professional identity and employee development.
FACULTY/INSTRUCTOR BIOS
DR. MATT BOWLER is the Director of the MBA Program, an Associate Professor of Management and holds the Ralph & Peggy A. Brenneman Professorship in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. He has worked with and given talks to companies including Anadarko Petroleum, Chesapeake
Energy, ONEOK, ConocoPhillips, CREC, Guardian Security (CSG), Lexmark, SMC Corporation, PharmaFab, Sleep Centers of Oklahoma, and PointBank. Dr. Bowler focuses his research on leadership, change, social networks, compensation, influence and citizenship behaviors in organizations. He teaches management topics, including leading change, building social capital, leadership, compensation and benefits, employee and labor relations, and management skills. He has received multiple teaching awards from the OSU MBA Student Association. Dr. Bowler earned an MBA at Missouri State University, where he also acquired a BS in management. He earned a Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Kentucky and was on the faculty at the University of North Texas for four years.
