Oklahoma Alpha Chapter of
Pi Beta Phi’s Centennial Year:
“The Girls Are Back In Town”
Looking back on Oklahoma Alpha’s Centennial Year, we were so blessed to have such active alumni! From our Centennial Valentines Day Party and Centennial Founders Day Celebration in the spring, to our Night-mare On Elm Street Alumni Trick-Or-Treat event in October, we have truly been able to interact with the amazing women who were vital in getting us to this monumental year.
On October 25th, Alumni were invited to bring their children for trick-or-treating and fun! There was bobbing for apples, mummy wrapping contests, pumpkin decorating, treats, and of course trick-or-treating. Actives had so much fun interacting with the children ready for Halloween! They were sooo cute!
The member’s favorite event, however, had to have been the actual events of Centennial weekend. Wheth-er we were checking you in at Embassy Suites, serenading you at the luncheon, or getting down with you on the dance floor at the ball, Pi Phi sisterhood was alive and well all weekend. We have truly loved getting to share this amaz-ing occasion with all of you. Without your continued support of Oklahoma Alpha we could not be in the position we are in today. Thank you!
Hopefully you were all able to get a tour of our beautiful chapter house during the Centennial celebra-tion, but if you have not had the chance to come see it, be sure to stop by some-time soon!!! This summer, the formal living, informal living, dining, and smoker (sunroom) were completely redone and look AMAZING!!! Thank you so much to Jenny Flax our wonder-ful house corps president and all who worked so hard to make our house so beautiful this summer, we all love it! Thank you also all those who partici-pated in Centennial making the gener-ous donation of $35,000 to our house corps possible! They are so excited with the possibilities that this money brings them!!!
New InitiatesOklahoma Alpha was so proud to initiate 65 new members on October 9, 2010. The initiation of our 100th Angel Collection was both a sacred and monu-mental occasion in Oklahoma Alpha’s history! We are so proud to call these women our sisters! Congratulations!

Philanthropic Service To Others
On September 23rd, Okla-homa Alpha held its second annual Pi Phi Gives You Wings philan-thropy event. Complete with buffalo wings, red bull, mingling, and a speed read, it was a huge success raising over $5, 800 for First Book and Pi Phi Foundation.
Additionally, every Mon-day in November, members go to Jefferson Elementary School to par-ticipate in Champions Are Readers. Champions are Readers is a month long literacy program for third graders aimed at increasing literacy, making reading fun, and instilling a life long love for reading. All student participants are able to participate in reading books in groups and are rewarded with books at the end of the program. All actives that partici-pated have loved the experience and can’t wait for the coming weeks of the program.
Homecoming Victory Pi Phi swept homecom-ing this year winning overall FIRST place in addition to tying for 1st in the Pep Rally Dance, 2nd in South Oval Board, and 3rd in Float. Thank you so much to our Homecoming chairs: Paige Wiederkehr and Nikki Smith for making Homecoming 2010 such a success!! Oklahoma Alpha was also honored to have it’s own Britan Mills on homecoming court this year!
Academic ExcellenceCongratulations to Oklahoma Alpha for placing THIRD in grades for the Spring 2010 semester! 27 members made a 4.0 grade point average!

Loving Thoughts“ If you can wear and love the
Pi Phi Arrowand not forget that there are
kites and keysIF you can show your love yet
not be narrowRemembering there are other
things than these.IF you can laugh and dance
and search for pleasureRemembering yet that when
the needs ariseYour arrow asks of you un-
stinted measureOf sacrifice and love for all Pi
Phis.
If you can dance and yet re-member ever
The finer things for which your arrow stands
A character and womanhood that never
By unclean word or deep soils lips and hands.
If Pi Phi love is always thus abiding
Yet for the lonesome girl you have a smile
Why then I’ll know that ‘neath your arrow’s hiding
A heart that holds all lovely things worthwhile.”
