Tablet Trends as of May ‘11
“The latest research from Nielsen indicates that the Apple iPad has 82% of the tablet market in the U.S., with 43% owning the Wi-Fi version and 39% owning the Wi-Fi + 3G version. The rest of the field--Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy, and others--combined take a meager 18% of the tablet market.” (Information Week May 9, 2011)
“According to Deloitte, more than 25% of all tablet computers will be purchased by enterprises this year - an incredible figure when you realize the iPad, the first tablet to gain widespread attention, launched just one year ago.
Deloitte also predicts that the 25% figure will rise in 2012 as more companies replace laptops with tablets.”

Mobile Workforce Explosion
“Organizations are already using tablet-specific apps in many ways. According to a November 2010 report from ChangeWave Research, there are six main corporate uses for tablets. The following list shows the percentage of companies using tablets for various applications:
• Internet access (73%)• Checking email (69%)• Working away from the office (67%)• Sales support (46%)• Customer presentations (45%)• Laptop replacement ( 38%)
Companies are also giving their mobile workforce access to CRM, business intelligence, sales, and other corporate systems through secure gateway apps designed especially for tablets.”

“In spite of the growth prospects, businesses are facing challenges around platform
integration and mobile fragmentation which hinder the quick adoption of effective mobile enterprise strategies. These challenges bring forward the pressing need of skilled mobile
